Had a fascinating private conversation regarding Gorgon / PvP petrification (Had a petrification incident yesterday that was hilarious, but lead to some technical and rp game theory):
If a player is petrified does it carry over like a death state upon reset?
If so, and in a group, how does the character address getting of the OOC room and how should that be role played if no DM isn't there to help?
If so, and soloing and no dm is present or able to put the character back, should the correct roleplay be a technical permakill as no one in game can find the character's beautifully preserved statue, -and- more importantly, that divine intervention through a respawn isn't mechanically possible?
I am fully aware that players are not forced to permakill their character, but as the character isn't dead and rather unfindable, is that a loophole? If so what are the logical rp steps to take with a player and willing DM to circumvent its permanence without a retcon?
And if not? how should one approach the rp of being petrified in the middle of nowhere then not being petrified in the middle of nowhere given the inability for divine intervention (Unless said Patron can cast stone to Flesh, I suppose.)?
If nothing else it was a brilliant conversation at the time!
Thanks,
DBB

If it were me and I were solo I'd RP death amnesia despite that mostly being a PvP thing; you have no clue how you got from PointA to PointB but are thankful to return to your mortal flesh.
If you're in a group and unable to dispell it, your party can still beat you to death so you can respawn, and can be RP'd with something like "Sry buddy, lets pray the God's return you to us" *boops nose*
Only a respawn or a dispell will remove petrify. A raise will result in a raised statue.

Supermagicpetrificationrespawnedfromwhoknowswhere…cious! We’re the rules/updates quoted for other readers?
The pvp memory Boop seems as good as any ooc respawn for the situation.
You missed the point of both solo and group actions regarding petrifaction and resets, though. If the petrified player can’t respawn (the situation yesterday that sent everyone else off on a hunt for the gnomish grease) and the server resets, what then?
A solo player can’t eat a respawn because there isn’t the option, and they’d be stuck in a combat area until reset then spawn into the ooc area after reset. Eating an ooc respawn would be understandable if they can find someone to kill them in ooc, but can they be picked up and carried to an area by a kindly stranger and restored? (Ic being the player saw them on the road or whatever and helped them out either by the kindness of their heart or motivation of greed.)
If there’s no dm to help and the group has something to help (grease, scroll or spell) is the player still expected to eat an ooc respawn in spite of an ic save, or can they be picked up from the ooc area and restored as above?
Apologies if the original post was a little nebulous. The notion of ic/ooc and persistent mechanics are complicated and nebulous in this specific instance, too.

Yea the citations were for reference purposes to the community at-large who read these so everyone can see the existing rules and context, ironically updated nearly 2yrs ago to the day haha If you're in party with allies nearby hopefully someone can either remove it, or they can kill/body carry you to a safe place to be healed. If you're solo and the creatures are unable to kill you, you are correct that you're SOL and the course of action would be to screenshot and logout until Staff can assist use the Death Screen to respawn (tested and confirmed last night). It is not permitted to use tells or Discord to organize a rescue if there are no surviving allies in your vicinity, so I would discourage any ooc collaboration to get out of a petrified situation. That should all be left for the Staff to handle if you're solo. If petrify cannot be resolved prior to a reset but an existing party is working towards one, I'd recommend screenshots and a message to the DMs so they know what's going on, and if you see someone stoned or dead in the Welcome Room you should leave them that way and notify the Staff. Edit: Solo guidance updated to include the Respawn screen. In all cases of petrification, respawning is also an option.
