The squad of warriors from Valkur's Roar led by a wizard of the mage guard surrounded the regally dressed handsome man. "We know you for what you are," the wizard said with disgust.
The man arrogantly smiled and spoke, "If that's true you'd be kneeling now. Ah well you'll be kneeling soon enough."
The warriors drew their longswords and began to surround the man while the wizard began her incantations. The handsome man's rune covered bracer flashed and the runes floated off of it and into the air surrounding their master. Quickly the symbols begain the shift into letters of various languages. The valiant fighters from Valkur's Roar all stopped and eyes unblinking began to read the message floating before them. As each man at arms dropped dropped their weapons and fell to their knees in supplication the mage completed her magic and a nimbus of white light glowed about her face. Arrogant eyes laughed silently at the wizard's action and the man spoke, "Arise my children! Now that you have seen the light defend the faith!"
The guardsmen sprung up to their feet as one, grabbing their weapons and began their attack upon their prior mage commander. The wizard spun about dodging swings while others glanced off magically hardened skin. Haughty laughter resounded and a defiant mage shouted, "You'll never win!"
The finely dressed man chuckled, "I already have. While you and others thought my master a joke and defaced his shrines the true faith never wavered and continued on. Now the Black Sun rises! Restrain her!"
An armored boot kicked the wizard's leg out from under her and she landed on her back. Glowing runes flashed a dark purple and the white nimbus of light slowly dimmed and faded away as the squad held the woman down. The runes flared purple in a massive burst and for a moment the wizard's eyes glowed violet and her thrashing stopped. The floating symbols drifted back to the bracer as the squad got up and knelt before the regally dressed handsome man. "Now then," the man declared, "proclaim your loyalty to the true god and together we shall retake that which was lost so long ago."
As they knelt some of the them wept though whether it was because deep inside their hearts they were revolted with themselves or the power of religious fervor none could know.
