Understanding Fang There she is. The growling lass. I bet you have seen her around aye? Don't get too close, she is wild I tell you. Like an animal!
I heard she is a biter. She took a bite of a poor lads arm. Aye, she chased a twiggie up a tree once.
I heard she is a werewolf. She have a thirst for blood that one!
Fang is often seen sitting by herself in silence, observing the world around her. If someone gets too close and she doesn't know them - she would most likely growl. Sometimes, she repeat words she hears. She imitate other people - the way they talk, move and how they move their arms and hands.
If someone laugh, Fang could laugh with them, not understanding the context of it. She rarely sits in chairs, she rarely goes inside if she doesn't have to. She doesn't seem to understand personal space and belongings - though she have learned that people might get upset if she starts to poke around in their satchel, so she doesn't do that too often anymore.
Lately she can be seen holding a worn little doll, and upon closer inspection, that doll holds some resemblance to herself.
Behind her skull shaped mask, her stripes of red and white, there is a little girl who struggles daily with her inner demons. Because Fang wants to be like everyone else. She feel she doesn't belong in the civilized world nor in the kingdom of animal, but maybe somewhere inbetween. Unfortunately for her, there isn't really a place like that. She hates being treated like an animal, but deep inside, she is fully aware she thinks like an animal, and acts on instincts more than often.
The text below is regarded as information that none or few would know
Fang was born as Trish - a human girl in a small town of loggers and woodworkers. Spending time in the forest was natural for her. She often followed her parents into the depths of the Cormanthor, collecting herbs, food and hunting. She was like every other girl until one day, she got parted from her parents and while trying to find them, she wandered deeper into the forest - and was lost.
Lost and alone, she was seeking after them for several days. She survived using her wilderness skills such as collecting food and hiding from wild beasts. But the days went on, and the hope of reunite with her parents started to fade.
After approximately a month, Fang encountered a wild beast with pale blue eyes. This was Iris - an elf and a shifter who lived deep in the forest by herself. She got the name from the color of her eyes, and no matter the shape she took - the color of the eyes was always the same.
Iris took care of Fang and helped her - and one day, she showed her the secret of shapeshifting.
Fang lived with Iris for many years, and over the course of time, she learned to take other forms, some stranger than others.
One day, Fang and Iris were attacked by bloodthirsty men and women. Malarites they said. Iris was killed and Fang was captured and for the next couple of years, they made Fang into one of themselves - a malarite dedicated to the hunt, culling the weak. But the malarites were slayed, and Fang managed to escape again.
She walked west for many moons, until she reached Cormyr. Looking into the civilization of the towns and cities triggered her curiosity. For the first time she saw elegance, dresses of wonderful colors. Beautiful men and woman, sparkling knights in shiny armor, horses with colorful tabards - and she started to remember her childhood - the first early years before she was lost in the forest.
She couldn't go back, and she was determined to find out more.
Fang is a shapeshifter. She can take many other forms. She wear light clothes because she doesn't want to be burdened when she shapeshifts. Fang struggles daily with her identity. She keeps a doll resembling herself to simply remind her who she is - a human. The human is considered to be her true form. When she spends too much time in other forms, she simply forgets, and starts to act and think like the new form instead. Her biggest fear is to forget what she is, and get stuck in another form - like Iris.Thank you for reading
