Two moons ago, I ventured with a decent sized party into the crypts atop the hill in Greatgaunt. We made way with immediate success, destroying the undeath wherever we found them.
Eventually we ran into a vampire. This was no child but a full grown man who warned us to leave. He was furious that we had entered “his” catacomb. Even more so, he blamed us for destroying his property.
The undead where so thick that they had begun crawling out of the tombs themselves. Some could not escape and so you heard the awful sound of the dead thrashing within. They where ravenous to say the least.
We began opening these tombs to lay them to rest once again.
The Vampire was furious that we had done so, claiming that those bodies where his and we where depriving bodies from him and his army.
We decided to push on and made our way to the lower levels. The Vampire assaulted us on several occasions along the way, promising us all death. Our confidence grew as we managed to get the better of him several times.
Once we reached the lower levels however, things changed. The undead swarmed us in large numbers. One skeleton in particular joined the vampire and as it grew near a deathly cold overtook some of our party. They fled in terror.
We only escaped by pure luck.
This is a warning to any who venture below, beware the catacombs. This new master is tenacious. Is he the one who the child spoke of in his journal?
