The Bludsmith Clan
A gold dwarf clan of the Great Rift, in reality, this clan is actually a cartel of sorts. As much as these brown and stout Gold Dwarves would like to call themselves a clan, their numbers do not justify the name.
"CLAN" BIO
1) Social Classes I. Thane Thane Mithras: Seer Matron of the Clan Bludsmith The one and only, matriarch of the clan.
II. Council of Coin The bankers and investors of the clan. These dwarves tend to never leave the Rift Kingdom... because someone has to make sure all the coin's still in the vault!
III. Shapers & Priests Crafters (Shapers) and Highbluds The craftsmen and mercantile class of the clan. Many a skilled artisan with varied focus and background. For the priesthood most clerics are of Vergadain, a rare few are of other faiths.
IV. Bluebluds & Emerald Eyes Bluebluds keep the peace internally and are equal rank with Emerald Eyes who keep their trade routes safe
V. Layfolk and Others
2) History The clan is from the Great Rift. Most of their holdings are in trade depots/barracks that dot trade routes. Their main clan hall is well hidden due to the Thane's paranoia. The clan itself is in fact not a true storied clan with much history, but rather a collection of smaller clans, mercenaries and the like. These small groups have banded together for the betterment of their lot and to increase their buying and trading power amongst the established and greater clans of The Rift. Due to the Thunderblessing, things are getting overcrowded in the Great Rift for the gold dwarves, and so small groups have been sent out on quests.
3) Goal The clan's goal is to set up a trade or supply depot in Cormyr as well as other locales. Gold dwarves have not suffered compared to their shield dwarf cousins and still have their kingdom intact, they are also more familiar with magic. The underlying story, to ensure the continuance of the Deep Kingdom, these gold dwarves have to step out of their traditional comfort zone.
// a place for all Bludsmith to post their bios, exploits, etc. Players interested in making a gold dwarf bludsmith are required to have a minimum of 12 charisma at level one if they want to rp as part of the main house (of the Thane's bloodline). Characters with less than 12 starting charisma would be considered of the secondary or vassal house, a Bludsmith by name but not of the Thane's bloodline <3

"For honor and glory!"
Art by Paul PresleyLike any good and self-respecting Bludsmith, the clansmen do like obtaining recognition for their services. Three such items awarded to kinsmen are the following: A gold badge with turquoise inlay: a boar encircling the symbol of the Rift Kingdom counts them as one of the Boar Boys, boar riders in the Rift Kingdom known for their skill in mounted combat. A gold badge of a winged helm with a crimson paint: notes service in the Army of Gold, named for the expedition of gold dwarves that set out from the Great Rift to reclaim the glory of Deep Shanatar, the lost kingdom of the shield dwarves. A gold badge with green paint and an embedded pair of red rubies: a primary slayer credo is "Do or die," where "do" means "find and slay illithids." This badge marks a Bludsmith as one of the Caradhaker, which loosely means "mindstalker." BLUDSMITH DEPOT #42Following completion of the gold dwarves lengthy expedition into the populated areas of Cormyr, the Bludsmith kinsman settled on a cavern tunnel that connects the fertile hamlet of Shallybrook to the snow topped mountains nearby. It was a task not taken lightly, with members digging deep into the local landscape and peoples, with one joining a local mercenary group known as the Ironsworn, and others swearing an oath to the Greatgaunt Volunteers.
There was some debate on what field of business to focus on, from imports, to smithing, and the like.
Taking their queue from the halfling locals, the standing members agreed that the primary draw of this traveler's depot, would be a rothe steakhouse and brewery. The unspoken understanding was, given their skillset, these dwarves could easily provide additional defense for the hamlet against giants that roam the snowy mountains.
What changes would befall their plans and what hurdles they'd have to roll over was anyone's guess, but certainly one cannot deny the combination of meat, mead, and a warm fireplace whilst on a journey.
Updates on that group effort can be found at the following LINK.

"There's one of those brain-eating bastards now! Kill it!" - Thane MithrasArt by Will O'BrianA gold dwarf sorceress and earth elementalist of the Great Rift. It is said that she is so skilled in smithing and transmutation that it is rumoured she can turn ore into cloth weave for wares and protective robes. This is in fact just a rumor she created to add to her enigma and name. She dresses in ornate dwarf regalia, with a mixture of green and red gems. She is an elusive, greedy, and -very- prideful woman. A strong streak of grey, colors her otherwise ebony hair. On the upper left portion of her forehead, partially covered by her hair, is a large circular scar patterned as if sawed by a ring of teeth. Faint, suction-cup like scars can be see elsewhere on her face and neck. She carries on her person an assortment of weapons, the right tool for the right job as they say. She never leaves the Rift, but she has been known to communicate with the various expeditionary groups via golden orbs that project a ghostly image of her to whatever far flung place the party might be in.

The Bludsmith NPCs:
"Thoondar Twins Powers Activate!"
Surgard "Suri" Bludsmith (left) and Norgard "Nori" Bludsmith (right) are the senior most members of the Bludsmith's Cormyr expedition and hold position above other Bludsmiths. They are also Thunder Twins... though they could not be any more different from one another. Suri is a mystic thurge of Dugmaren Brightmantle. She documents the party's exploits, keeping meticulous records, and is a fine crafter of things divine and arcane. She might be odd in the sense that the style of her wares is quite old, jewelry and a hand-me-down mithril chain from a bygone era. If she isn't praying, then she is studying. If she is not studying, then she is crafting. If she isn't crafting, then she's praying. Her mind is often preoccupied. Nori comes off as stand-off-ish at first, though he is truly a kind soul and down-to-earth dwarf as his boars can attest. Pinned on his person are two of the three prized badges bestowed by the clan. A gold badge with turquoise inlay: a boar encircling the symbol of the Rift Kingdom counts him as one of the Boar Boys. A gold badge with green paint and an embedded pair of red rubies: noting him as a skilled Caradhaker, which loosely means "mindstalker." He doesn't like to talk about his dealings with the squid heads, but his gear and gloomstalker skills seems exclusively suited to fight them. When not in the company of his boars, he acts as the armorer of the expedition group, supervising the creation, care, and storage of weapons and armors. "Not pigs lads, boars, big difference."Art by Eoghan KerriganNori's warboar mount, Bognar, is a massive beast who is quite old and perhaps just as stubborn, preferring to nap by the flame of the smith more often than not. Art by Eoghan KerriganFifur is a younger and much smaller boar, tenacious and protective. To others, she is a terror, but to Suri, she is a lap animal that enjoys scratches and treats. //OOC: These NPCs are welcome to be used by DMs and EDMs

D h o r g r u k B l u d s m i t h
Description:He is a brawny dwarf who stands tall, with his thick beard barely concealing a wily grin. His eyes shine with an inner calm and determination born through the years of negotiation and warfare in the name of his family and clan. There are some grey strands in his black hair. Background:The business-like customs of the clan Bludsmith were Dhorgruk’s birthright and major part of his childhood. From an early stage, he had shown exceptional aptitude for negotiation and a passion for profit making. As master brewer to the clan, he perfected the art of brewing the finest ales ever tasted by any dwarves. But everything changed when his cousin Didi left him, someone who had shared so many memories and dreams of success together with him such as D’Deridex Bludsmith. After she left, her cousin felt that he must go on this journey to increase their family enterprise beyond their home land. Determined to expand Bludsmiths’ trade networks by opening new depots in Cormyr, thereby increasing its trade routes[D1] , he stopped being a master brewer and set off into unfamiliar territory. His ability to use his war axe like it’s part of him is legendary and he is also known for his impressive strength. With surprise quickness, agility, and battle experience, he is a formidable enemy in any confrontation. Abilities:Additionally, Dhorgruk has a sharp mind and an uncanny knack for ascertaining the worth of things in both practical and strategic terms. His expertise in commercial transactions and negotiations complemented by the ability to understand their implication make him a valuable ally. To ensure that his family and clan have a bright future in this world, Dhorgruk Bludsmith travels to Cormyr seeking new opportunities. He wants to make sure that his family name doesn’t fade away with time but instead becomes one of the greatest commercial empires of all time; one that will change the history of the Bludsmiths and position it among the most influential Faerun’ families.
