In tavern news it is claimed that Great Gaunt’s long time guard Bentin lost his temper but strangely not with adventurers but the local town folk. There were numerous scuffles and more than a few denizens are now sporting bruises and cuts. During the fracas Giselle’s was robbed and a few rare and valuable books were taken. Giselle during the time of the altercations had left the shop to see what all the commotion was about. Bentin reportedly does not recall any of his actions and investigations continue into the theft of the books. The two books missing are described as follows:
Do’bauth lil Zik’den’vever (To Breach the Planes)
Nau Sssiks Qu’mados (The Sunless Sea)

A woman with flame red hair walks into Giselle's, looks around, and softly closes the door behind her. "Hello," she says. "I am Marissa Solren, paladin of Tyr. I have heard some books of yours were stolen, and I would like to help restore to you what was lost. Would you be willing to share with me the details of what exactly happened, so I might help in catching the culprit and restoring your property?

Giselle provides the following description to the various individuals who come to call. Both books are similar in general appearance being penned on a strange form of parchment. The pages resembles parchment but has a quite unique texture and a distinctive grey-green hue. The the pages are derived from a mushroom that grows wild in the UnderDark and often harvested to provide a paper substitute. Both are written in an archaic Drow tongue. The binding is a simple black and lacks any distinct artistry or embellishments. This lack of "decoration" is highly unusual for any elven work.
As for the "who" there are few clues. Giselle does assure the various visitors that War Wizard Branson has taken efforts to ensure the safety of the remaining books.

Later that evening a dreadful shrieking is heard echoing through out the village of Great Gaunt. Witnesses report to seeing a battered Giselle running from her shop in terror a victim of another seemingly unprovoked attack by Bentin. A local group of adventures were seen providing support and reassurance to the weeping Giselle. Around this time an explosion rocked the village. A luminous flash lit up the night time sky centered on Giselle’s House of Antiquities. Adventurers lead the now panicking Giselle back to her shop. Strangely there was no fire damage to the shop or contents but several villagers speak of a corpse badly burnt being removed from the shop. At the bodies sight Giselle’ was heard loudly complaining of the deadly magical warding put in place by War Wizard Branson
Bentin was eventually tracked down but was completely unaware of what he had done or even that the sun had now risen. He seemed dazed confused and when confronted with past actions was deeply remorseful. Subsequent questioning of both Giselle and Bentin by the intrepid band of adventurers seemed to suggest that the events were tied to the actions of a mysterious stranger. One who perished in Giselle’s shop.
It is now believed that the man who perished had an accomplice. A precious volume Bista Dalzhind d”naubol has been reported as missing. Taken in spite of a deadly ward guarding the book. Authorities are seeking information about the second accomplice.. War Wizard Branson has reportedly been summoned to interview any and all witnesses.
The book is described as being crafted from a strange grey-green hued parchment and having a strong sense of antiquity.
Giselle has offered a small reward to the four individuals involved. A rare potion for each from her private stocks.
