Is it that rare in Oklahoma, or is it just early? I lived in the Texas Panhandle for several years, and we'd get snow every winter.

Well, we've gotten a little ice or a little snow, but never in October and never 2+ inches of ice.

I can sort of relate in south Florida. Sometimes when the ac is on, it gets cold so I whip out the fuzzy blanket from the dryer.

Impressive freezing rain. This happens every few years in NC, I call it "Crystal Forest". It's more destructive than any other winter weather...the last one destroyed so many trees, it looked like some maniac had been driving around hucking grenades out of his window like a paperboy.
Also, re: Florida...I'd rather have our winters than your summers.

I remember a really brutal winter in KS back in 07. I’d just come off my medical leave for eye correction and had to spend the two days before Christmas leave clearing branches and debris from the roadsides on Ft Riley. Mind you it was bright, and it was white. So asides from being wet and cold, I was essentially blind as a bat....fun times in the Midwest.

This kind of weather is super dangerous. I live in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains now, and if we got this, no one would be driving at all. It would suicide. Not to mention there would probably be no power.

Another Oklahoman here. Been without power since Monday evening with no end in sight. I'm hopeful I'll be able to get back in game sometime next week.

Oge is the worst electric company we've ever had in 6 states!

Nope, still out. I'm expecting to be out into next week at least. The line that is down runs along the creek in the back of the house, so not easy to get to. I *think* OG&E is doing the easiest to fix stuff first, so that probably means it'll be a while. I wasn't sure by your post if you had gotten your power back yet or not? Someone mentioned that because of this early freeze with all the leaves still being on the trees that the ice had more surface area to stick to, making it heavier, meaning more broken branches and split trees. *shrug* I'm no expert but that makes sense to me. The sun is out at the moment, so maybe that will speed things up.

I've heard this was historic. Were not from OK. Only been here a few years. Was sad sad to lose my elm tree though.

We got hit yesterday pretty hard. No frozen stuff just good old fashioned act o’ god wind. Power went out at work and home, at separate times. I got to hear three loud explosions as the transformer up the street stopped transforming. Got power back pretty quick but it was like 50000 people in this county without power and I know a couple others nearby had similar numbers.

Was sad sad to lose my elm tree though. It's definitely the worst shape I've ever seen the trees in, and the longest I've ever been without power. Funnily enough, the roads in my neck of the woods never got bad however. The most important thing is, does your partial power allow you to play NWN?
-edited to add...
I am still without power. Once a day we come over to my son's house to charge our various electronics and that is when I can get on the forums. Until last night we didn't even have access to our cell phones. I guess there were some towers down in our area.

Finally got power back this evening, a day or two sooner than I was thinking too! See you all in game.

Well ever since the ice storm my ISP service has been pretty intermittent. Been out multiple times for anywhere from a couple of hours to 12 hours. Yesterday we went out at noon and besides a couple of very short periods where it was back (less than an hour each time) We were out when I went to bed at 2am this morning. Its back on now so I am going to get in game, but who knows how long it will last.
