Can druids in Elemental form communicate in the elementals tongues? IE Aurran or Terran? Thank you. Changing shape does not grant knowledge of languages a character doesn't normally speak. Auran, Terran, Aquan, and Ignan are complex languages that need to be learned like other languages. Taking the form of an elemental does not grant knowledge of the elemental languages. By the same token, changing into a dragon does not grant the ability to speak Draconic. (As a side note, true elementals have pretty low INT scores, so true elementals may not even speak the elemental languages as fluently as outsiders from the elemental planes such as mephits and genies.) (As another side note, pseudodragons don't speak but can communicate telepathically with creatures that speak Common or Sylvan. Draconic is not one of the languages they communicate in. Fairy dragons, on the other hand, can speak Draconic and Sylvan, and they can converse with any animal. Some fairy dragons also learn Common, Elven, and Gnome.)

Thank you very much with this. It saves Padrin from looking like a dummy IC.
Cheers Munroe.

This is actually not true as implemented. A shifter using wyrmling shape gains and can speak Draconic if they have not used any other language widget prior. I haven't created a pure druid (or a shifter with enough levels for dragon shape) to check if this changes across various shapes. If it isn't meant to be so, please bring it up as a project to work on. (Edit: I know, DM Q&A, title wasn't on it from recent posts... point stands. Delete this if you want later, Munroe)
