Great... I have a cough and breathlessness, I'm in isolation for 9 days. I'm double vaccinated so if I do have it, it won't be as rough. I'm reasonably certain I just have seasonal issues but a PCR test is on its way. My daughter (6) was recently advised by her school that she needs to isolate due to a new cough. But, I am fairly sure it is the same: she suffers with asthma and hay fever. Because she has to isolate, I now have to isolate and I hate it. I worked through all of the UK lockdowns, so never had to furlough or isolate or anything... so this is all new to me. Thankfully it should be a few days only.

Three of them were vaccinated so their symptoms weren't so bad. You're going to be okay.

Positive healing vibes to all who need it. Two of my co-workers had it when it first broke out and recovered though one lost their taste and smell.

This is not a good week.
I rolled my office chair forward and a sharp edge on a caster ripped into the back of my bare foot. Amazing how big a hole it made...
To cap this trio of discomfort off I've got to wear a wrist splint to treat an arthritis problem. We are having hot weather and the splint is made of thick neoprene and heavy plastic.
If you too are as uncomfortable as I am - I am with you in spirit. I raise my fist (the non sweaty, stable one) in solidarity. 💪🤕 We will endure.

That is difficult for an adult to tolerate let alone a 6 year old.

I found getting her to say “haaaaa” on the exhale rather than “ahhhhh” opens the throat and flattens the tongur. I have seen adults at the lft centres take it worse.

Two people on the night crew tested positive. There may be one or two more it was the night shift crew and on days I was off work.
I have not been contacted by occupation health but I am keeping vigilant.

I've been called for my flu shot but today has been bad news so I don't know when I can go get it. It seems my father's youngest cousin has died at the wheel of his car suddenly. There's going to be a post mortem and everyone is stunned so I don't know if I should just do my appointments or wait which may cause a delay for my booster vaccine shot further forward in time.
I'll see which way the wind blows and how the family feel. I think that's more important.

The flu shot like the covid shots are bandaids. They are supposed to lessen the symptoms and not a cure. Family should always be high priority.

Thanks, my father's family has now lost 3 people in 18 months. Two of his cousins and the husband of the eldest cousin. It's stunning under normal circumstances, I am sure a lot of people feel numb due to the increased losses caused by the pandemic. I hope the postmortem brings an answer, it's shocked me as he was only 5 years older than I am and we thought he was in good health.

I'm sorry to hear that Fiddlesticks and wish your family all the best. I know what you mean by feeling numb or desensitized. I had my fifth funeral of 2021 just a couple weekends ago and I didn't feel a thing. We're living in a weird time and I honestly think the best thing to do is talk about it. Whether it's in forums like this or with a loved one. We have a pretty awesome community here and I'm constantly surprised at the support our FRC members provide for one another. Griz

It has certainly been a couple of weird years. I had a milder version mgself, that kept for several weeks. My family has made it. I know others weren't as lucky.
However, the strange thing is happened is a that my and my husband's parents have decided they are old. I don't really know how to explain it. They're all out of work and living of their pensions. They all have health issues, but they've been keeping it up. I noticed this summer that they seem vulnerable and actually act like elderly. They talk of death, too.
One other "interesting" change is that I'm catching all the colds. Since September I've had 3 already. I feel like Im catching a fourth one now.
I'm surprised I've made it as well as I did. Im on the "vulnerability" list. My husband was the one who spent an afternoon at the ER. It was just a scare, but freaky it was him and not me. Really unpredictable disease, that one.

I had the quadrivalent flu shot today and I'm getting called for my third vaccine shot in January.
If anyone hasn't had their third shot yet, the health professional I spoke to today recommended taking a standard dose of painkillers beforehand. As if you are "anticipating a headache", in his words. It helps.

There is a sixth strain out there. PLease stay safe. Even if vaccinated, please still practice all the safeguards as if you were not.

Christmas was so lonely last year. We tend to have a potluck Christmas with extended family - my husband's brothers' wives' families my family, his family (his parents are divorced and their families attend, sometimes even his father's new wive's son with his wife. One year a cousin that was studying in our city that was stuck here came with their lonely immigrant friend). Lots of people.... Nobody has to be alone. Just bring food (or anything else useful) and hang out with us.
Last year it was just the 2 of us... We tried, but the feeling wasn't there.
We're not much for boliday decorating, but this year I'm going to have a tree, and window lights. Just in case.

Oh man, here we go. Third shot booked in for tomorrow evening. I have a "we're worried about Omicron" vibe from the hospital, I wasn't due to visit until the end of January.

I got my booster shot last Wednesday and hoo-boy! It hit me way worse than either of the other two shots. The fever and chills didn't last too long, but I had dizziness and nausea combined with fatigue that went on through Xmas. I seem to be over it now though. *fingers crossed*
