//With the New Character Creation Month (CCM) finally here, and recent discussions about Evil characters needed in FRC, it's time to recruit some new blood to the fold.
If this needs to be moved to another part of the forums please do so.
The Church of Bane
The dread deity Bane is alive again and closing His hand about Faerûn. Bane’s return has made an impression on the people of Faerûn, for only now do they realize that Bane is their one true master. With the other evil deities fighting each other, and in some cases enacting purges among their own ranks the forces of Bane are marshaled and stand ready with firm faith in their reborn deity, and bring forth order to an otherwise chaotic world. Aided by the Zhentarim and dark magic, the Banites are not a threat to the safety of all Faerûn, but it's sole savior. He has always been more appealing than the Heretic Cyric or his son Xvim, and Bane is drawing His lost worshipers back to the fold while gaining converts from the disillusioned members of other evil faiths.
Brief History
Bane has been the mightiest of dieties upon Toril for hundreds of years, and it is still true to this day. Controlling, intelligent, and incredibly evil, His servants are an extention of His great vision. When Bane was (temporarily) slain by the fool Torm during the Time of Troubles the common folk rejoiced only to find the successors (His son Xvim and the Heretic Cyric) to be almost as much trouble although certainly not as intelligent or competent. Now that Bane has returned He is showing the competence and power that made him a feared name for centuries. Though He battles with the Heretic Cyric frequently, and still must face His traditional foes, the Black Hand shall lead His church in conquest of all Faerûn.
Our Organization
The church of Bane is well organized, well equipped, and populated by people who understand the need for order, and punish those weaker than Bane. This combination of qualities makes the church of Bane a more credible threat than the church of the Heretic Cyric, despite the cur’s numbers and heretic worshipers’ willingness to sacrifice themselves in a frenzy of killing as the cowards they are.
Headquarters: Zhentil Keep, the Moonsea.
Members: Roughly 8,000 clergy and 135,000 worshipers.
Hierarchy: Militaristic.
Leader: Fzoul Chembryl, Chosen of Bane.
Religion: Bane, and only Bane.
Alignment: LE, NE, LN.
Secrecy: Low.
Symbol: Bane’s symbol has undergone changes since his rebirth. Currently the church now rallies behind a black fist with beams of green light being pressed from it.
Hierarchy
As both a lawful entity and the deity of tyranny, Bane expects a well-defined structure for His church and compliance in all given orders. The head of the church is Fzoul Chembryl, who has absolute authority over all other members of the church. Headquartered in Zhentil Keep the church is organized like a military unit with each temple having a clear chain of command. The temple leaders (called Imperceptors) report to a senior cleric of a region who then reports to Fzoul or one of Fzoul's direct underlings.
Motivation and Goals
The church’s goals are simple: Convert all to the worship of Bane, and destroy those who do not convert. It is presumed that some exceptions would be made for servants of allied deities (such as those who recognize Bane's superiroity). In the meantime, people should be made to fear Bane so that they invoke His name in fear and to accept Him as their savior, which gives him great power.
The church of Bane uses force and persuasion to control territory, whether by marching armies against reticent towns or by bribing bored nobles with slaves, riches, and offers of power. We are inevitable.
Recruiting
Given that it wishes to convert everyone to worshiping Bane, the church is very open to new recruits. Anyone can swear loyalty to Bane and join the church. However, the church expects loyalty and is not stupid, so it performs checks on new recruits to see if they are potential saboteurs. Everyone is given the opportunity to convert for Bane recognizes the value of those who have seen the lure of good, and turned away from it to serve Him. All Hail Bane!

OOC information
//We are looking for those interested in being a part of the Cormyrean Church of Bane.
There are active members in this group already.
//Some important info for prospective players:
//Unlike pen and paper D&D FRC is a liviing campaign online all day. There are many players online at all different times. This can be a challenge when bringing players together. Please read the following information below, and if interested we can all coordinate time to play.
Please keep in mind the alignments of LE, LN, and NE. Bane demands order among all of His followers. No exceptions.
Most followers of Bane are of the following classes: Cleric, Fighter, Wizard, Rogue, Monk, and Blackguard (this is a perfect opportunity if you have ever wanted to roll a Blackguard). Bane is Strong, Intelligent, and Wise. Those classes reflect the aspects of Bane. All classes are accepted, but please have some strong RP for any other classes than those listed above.
Also keep in mind any information you obtain in character as a member of the Church of Bane stays with that character.
Many of us are on at different hours and times of day, but we do coordinate to play together as a group regularly.
We would like to RP church services Sunday mornings USA EST (-5 GMT).
Expectations beyond "being evil" are also to explore the depths of the server, and establish a location of our own. We should both ROLE play, and accumulate XP + loot (ie: ROLL play).
We will ROLE play a lot. We should have the mindset that, through play, sometimes we will win however sometimes we won't. We should represent the Ying to the good guy's Yang. We should always be a thorn in their side. Look at Bane's history: He died, and after a few years came back. There should be similar ebb and flow when we act against the good guys.
Followers of Bane tend to work in secrecy in Cormyr due to the laws of the land. Having a disguise is key. This could be handled multiple way up to and including having different sets of gear. Having a set of armor dressed in the colors of the church while gathered with other members or on missions together, and then a set you wear when you are travelling openly, will not only provide you opportunities to RP among others who don't suspect your true allegiance, but also keep play from going towards the realm of OOC.
I would like to have regular play with the group for 2-4 hours per session. Some DM events may happen. Some may not. Our goal is to be THE one true evil on the server.
One that will stand the test of time, and provide players (established, and new) an option when creating their character.
Open communication (both in and out of character) is also expected.
Above all else...HAVE FUN!
With us being a RP player group having pen & paper knowledge of the church can be helpful when making your character. You can read more about Bane here, and watch this video here (although there are parts of the this video that are out of date with the FRC timeline).
//If you are interested, or have questions before rolling up your character, please PM The Church of Bane account above. Answers would arrive within 24-48 hours.
If this needs to be moved to another part of the forums please do so.
