The Steam Grand Prix summer sale started yesterday.
I bought Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon for $5.99, Overlord for $1.24, and Overlord: Raising Hell for $2.49.
I participated in the Summer Sale mini-game after reading the rules.
Basically, you can join one of five teams. Buying games and playing your games gives you speed boosts and attacks you can use in the "race." Each day, the top three teams from that day have a team member randomly selected to receive the item at the top of their Wishlist.
Well, Team Corgi was way out in the lead, so I was tempted to join Team Corgi. But that obscene lead suggests that EVERYBODY joins Team Corgi. So I joined Team Cockatiel instead, because fewer people on the team increases my changes of being in the daily drawing. I spent some boosts and even made an attack on one of the other teams later that had passed Team Cockatiel.
Today I got on Steam and saw that Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night ($39.99, currently on sale for $35.99) was no longer at the top of my Wishlist. I panicked for a second, because what if I won and I got the wrong game instead. (That wouldn't be too bad either, as Shadow of the Tomb Raider was at #2.) So I searched my wishlist but it wasn't there at all.
So I checked my game library. Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night was there in my game library. I panicked again because I thought I must have bought it by accident somehow, and I don't currently have enough money in the bank to cover it. I checked my email to see if I had a receipt for a purchase.
I had an email from Steam notifying me that I had won it in the random drawing for helping Team Cockatiel get in third place!
Yay!
I've downloaded the game now, and I'm going to play it!

Wow congrats Munroe! I've had that game on my wishlist for ages, but I'm waiting for it to be on a bigger sale before getting it. Maybe you could post your impressions here. Like how does it compares to Castlevania: Symphony og the Night?

I've been playing Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night a lot.
I talked it up so much my brother bought it and now he's ~10 hours in. My brother paid ~$31 for it on Steam ($4 off, plus $5 discount coupon.) Having played the game, I think their pricing at $40 was probably about right. It's quite a big game for the genre. Makes sense, one of the stretch goals was that it would be Igarashi's "biggest castle yet."
I've beaten all the bosses but there's still somehow one monster in the list of monsters that I haven't found yet. No idea where to look for it. My percentage completion right now is 99.6%, so I'm guessing there's a hidden room somewhere I haven't found yet.

Wait until the game turns upside down and you have to do it all over again!
Have you played the 8 bit prequel to the game?

Wait until the game turns upside down and you have to do it all over again! Have you played the 8 bit prequel to the game? In the first post in this thread I mention that I bought Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon on the first day of the Steam Summer Sale for $5.99. I had played it before for about an hour because my brother bought it last year when it was on sale. I've also played it some since I got it. I've reached Bloodless in Curse of the Moon. She's the fifth boss, I think? Have you played Ritual of the Night yet? I'd talk about the "upside down castle" but I don't want to give away spoilers.

Wait until the game turns upside down and you have to do it all over again! Have you played the 8 bit prequel to the game? Bloodstained Curse of the Moon is the "8-bit" prequel to the game. It's more like an 8-bit style alternate universe than a prequel, but I've played it a fair bit. Been playing some more Bloodstained Curse of the Moon over the last week. I've beaten the Normal game, so now playing through on Nightmare (which is a bit harder in general and you don't have Zengetsu). I learned recently that Nightmare has an extra level after what was the final boss on Normal. Apparently if you beat Nightmare you unlock Ultimate mode too. I'm stuck at the level 4 boss on Nightmare right now though. I was stuck on the level 2 boss but I beat it the other day and while playing today I realized I missed a power-up on level 1 so I basically restarted using Curse of the Moon, but played back up to the level 4 boss in ... one life, I think. I don't know for sure, but I beat that level 2 boss on the first try. I just saw today that INTI Creates has announced Bloodstained Curse of the Moon 2, which should make you very happy. In Bloodstained Curse of the Moon 2 you play as Zangetsu, Dominique, some guy with a rifle, and a corgi in a mech suit. No, I didn't make that up. I, uh, am not excited about the corgi playable character. Seems corny to me. I'll still get the game though.

The second trailer for Curse of the Moon 2 came out. It shows that Miriam, Alfred, and Gebel are also going to be in the game.
One clip shows Mariam using her sickle and Alfred using his freeze attack to freeze it in place and make a series of ice sickle platforms. I think that's 2-player mode? I don't know, but that's what it looks like.
I don't know how it will work, but it looks like it may have seven playable characters instead of four.
It comes out July 10th.

The Circle of the Moon games looks infinitely better than the Ritual of the Moon game.

The Circle of the Moon games looks infinitely better than the Ritual of the Moon game. You literally just got all their names wrong. :-P Curse of the Moon and Ritual of the Night. I like both but I have 100% completion on Ritual of the Night so I'm working on Curse of the Moon again. They've added the ability to play as Zangetsu in Ritual of the Night now though, and I haven't beaten it with him yet, so I'll work on that more later. I love how they say "... as the horrible night rages on once again" in the trailer.

Same thing. Haha.
I do wanna get Ritual though at some point. I'm just not too big on metroidvania type games. I'd rather a straight through.

Ritual is a awesomme game for those who like metroidvania (like I do), I spend over 200+ hours on it and don't regret it at all! Congratulations

Ritual is a awesomme game for those who like metroidvania (like I do), I spend over 200+ hours on it and don't regret it at all! Congratulations :) Thanks. That was last year. (I haven't seen a contest to win free games in the Steam Summer Sale this year.) Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is on sale presently for $23.99 though. According to Steam, I have a hundred hours in Ritual of the Night. I've played through it completely to 100% twice (once each on Normal and Hard), plus started the mode where you don't level-up (Nightmare?) and started a game as Zangetsu after they added him. I haven't played a randomized game yet. My brother recently posted a screenshot of beating a randomized game in just under 10 hours. But he mentioned he got a particular plot item as one of his first random drops. I saw this posted on Steam's Ritual of the Night game page earlier. Unfortunately, I don't know the artist. (It's a map of the RotN game world, so spoiler tag is appropriate.) I think it's funny that there are three different sorcery labs, but Hellhold (aka "the castle") did appear over and merge with the Alchemists' Guild.

The randomizer is a fun play style, i did two times o RoTN and a lot on Castlevania: SoTN. It takes a time to memorize all places you have to check and what relics allow you to explore where, but over all is pretty fun

It took me over a year and a half since I posted about it, but I finally bought Bloodstained Curse of the Moon 2 today.
