Good greetings,
I am Uggams Mantooth, the son of Finwrick and Ricey. I have lived in Shallybrook for nearly all of my life, benefiting from your protection. We have had little cause to speak in the past, which I dearly hope you might attribute to my causing you no troubles, rather than a lack of a social life on my part.
Over the past few months I have taken steps outside of my wonderful home, had many adventures, and seen much more of the beauty and ugliness of the world. I write this letter because it has become apparent to me that the tallfolk, they anticipate war. More than usual, at that! You have likely heard of a growing horde of orcs under a mighty warlord, and this certainly seems to be true. On the other hand, past the town of Greatgaunt, a dispute over territory sounds like to turn volatile. A great fear of what the future holds has taken a grip of my heart, one that I feel is best met with action.
In the spirit of the teachings of the Defender, I would like us to consider what Shallybrook can do to prepare ourselves for what will come. A woman named Abigail, a follower of Ilmater (one of the nicer human gods, by my reckoning) means to create a 'sanctuary' in the city of Valkur's Roar, which can take in those sick, hungry and wounded created in wartime. To aid her in this pursuit, she would wish for a modest donation of our crops to feed these people. It is my hope that doing this might earn us some appreciation and protection from the city.
I would like to bring her, and any of the adventuring hin I can gather, to speak with you; about this donation, and of anything else we can do to shore up our defenses for the days to come. If you're in agreement, please leave word to me at the Golden Maiden, or the Regal Griffin Inn of Greatgaunt.
Please don't leave word with my family; there are realities I don't wish to trouble them with just yet.
Thank you for reading,
