A letter home reads:
"Hey grandad been a little while since my last letter home and a lot has changed, I'm no longer with the Roar Reserves, and I said before that things were done with Aella. Well I got promoted in the Royal Corps, officially a SwordMajor now, and I'm officially the first House Stormcrown retainer in a few centuries. Glad I left the Reserves honestly, something crooked about the way things are in that town, this coming from a kid from Marsember so I know crooked when I feel it, part of me feels bad for leaving but the other part of me feels like I was being manipulated into staying. At least I had the honor and dignity to go about being released from my oath properly, I didn't hide intelligence from the Barony and scribble my name from the roster like a child, then lie to others about not breaking an oath, I get a lot of trouble for being focused on my goals, but at least I understand perspective enough to see past the end of my nose. Truth be told had I known lady Stormcrown was accepting retainers I wouldn't have wasted time with the Reserves, I felt bad leaving Jamei and Aluxar hanging, but you get what you give, a leader who is only around by request isn't much of a leader at all and playing branches against one another is sabatoge but hey, at least we got to fight for Aluxar's amusement. Moving past that nonsense and into more, that two face Vindel is alive and well and if the family 'accidentally' comes across the jerk at home I'm sure he'd make decent live bait, not advocating that… nope.
On a positive, Lady Cathryn Stormcrown is a fantastic woman, her humor is rare but true and her intuition is like no one I've ever known between her gift of 'vision' and my understanding of strategy we will make sure Cloudstone is well protected and prepared. The ball is being planned and I opted to abstain from my usual voluntary guard service in the hopes Cathryn will accompany me. Though chances are if trouble stirs I will likely be tapped for security, which is fair. Though I expect Guard Captain Joram will be ready for anything, woe to those who think it wise to challenge a couple of strategists on their own lanceboard.
Also tell Ma I'm a fey Champion now, the guardian of a guardian, it's confusing but fun. Can never be sure if more fey will pop up or some fey troubles might occur, if brownies start moving in -let- them or any other fey that isn't a threat.
Suppose that'll be it for this letter grandad give everyone hugs for me and hide Master Lee's fishing spear in the secret cabinet behind gran's secret book shelf it will take him at least a tenday to find that.
