Per Request of DM HawkIf someone does creative writing, and explains in character roleplay with that creative writing to another character, and they both are owned by the person doing the creative writing, and then both characters use the in character knowledge, in role-play on the server, as if both characters had the in character knowledge, and gained it themselves through roleplay, as if they did the role play, themselves with each character, separately, and acts as if both characters were present the entire time, again based on creative writing the person who owns both characters did, is that specific instance against the rules? Yes or no? If it is, what is the punishment for that? If it is not, why is that not against the rules, and why is that not considered metagaming? DM Maleficent's Kiss

Hi Orchid, FRC's rules about metagaming can be found here and always apply in game. frc.proboards.com/thread/29379/server-rulesCreative writing on the forum is a privilege for community members to enjoy and express themselves in different ways. It is not meant to be a vehicle to enable a player to share information between their own characters. Interaction between one player's alternate characters has always been against the spirit of our rules and things like this should be avoided. If a player does make use of creative writing to foster interaction between their alternate characters, the nature of the information shared will come into play. The DM Team may find it harmless or we may find it to be in jeopardy of breaking Rule 7. Do Not Metagame. Use common sense and avoid this slippery slope. If you proceed anyway, then you can ask yourself whether there is any chance that information being communicated this way can provide an unfair advantage in game? If yes, then don't do it. If you have a doubt, ask a DM privately about the specific circumstance before posting. Or if in doubt, just don't. We'd rather spend our time with you in game having fun than dissecting creative writing, but we will do so if it is being used to metagame.

I just want to clarify, I don't do this, I don't know that I've ever done a creative writing post. This was snipped from frc.proboards.com/post/317682/thread SPECIFICALLY at your direct request. frc.proboards.com/post/317697 Please let whatever notes being kept on my behavior reflect this. My question was made first that in the linked thread in direct regard to behaviour observed from another player, NOT me.

Orchid, You were asked to move your post into DM Q&A because you specifically stated you were waiting for DM Maleficent and me to answer you in the original thread. If someone does creative writing, and explains in character roleplay with that creative writing to another character, and they both are owned by the person doing the creative writing, and then both characters use the in character knowledge, in role-play on the server, as if both characters had the in character knowledge, and gained it themselves through roleplay, as if they did the role play, themselves with each character, separately, and acts as if both characters were present the entire time, again based on creative writing the person who owns both characters did, is that specific instance against the rules? Yes or no? If it is, what is the punishment for that? If it is not, why is that not against the rules, and why is that not considered metagaming? I'll wait for a DM to answer this as I have written. DM Hawk DM Maleficent's KissOrchid, If you're waiting for a DM response specifically, please post your question in DM Q&A so that the answer isn't buried and lost in another thread over time. Answers provided in the DM Q&A are written as guidance to the community as a whole in addition to the individual asking the question. You were provided with guidance and a thought process to follow when considering this topic.
