Rumors circulate in Suzail about a brutal fight at the Obscene Ogre between retainers of two rival noble houses. An elven mage, later identified as Hornbow retainer Vindel Alow, is said to have attacked two retainers of House Silverthorn. While the two Silverthorn retainers were talking with the barkeep, Vindel ambushed them from invisibility and beat them both unconscious. Some of the regulars claim that the attack was sadly so fast that no one had time to take bets or join the fight, and there are mixed opinions if this was the best or worst fight they'd seen at the Ogre in months. Vindel then vanished as quickly as he had appeared.
A few days later, a War Wizard and two purple dragons showed up at the Hornbow mansion, looking for Vindel, and demanding to search the house for something. Duncan Hornbow was furious, ranting on the street of yet another outrageous attempt at slandering his family's reputation, and that he had nothing to do with what Vindel may have done. In fact, he claimed that Vindel was not a retainer of his house at all, that they had parted ways several tendays ago.
Happier news spread from the other side of town, at the Silverthorn estate, where it is said that their retainers has finally rediscovered the family's long lost silver mine in the Storm Horns. Details are scarce at this time, but rumors tell the Crown has approved Lord Edmond's wish to restore the mine, and that he is now looking to hire miners among the locals of Eveningstar and Tyrluk. Some say that the Silverthorns were broke after they paid ransom for Edmond's sister a few months back, and almost had to sell their home in Suzail. With the silver mine restored, they now have a chance to become the wealthy silver miners they were known to be a hundred years ago.
Not all Silverthorns seem so happy, though. Raymond Silverthorn, oldest son and heir to Lord Edmond, was seen stumbling into the Temple of the Defenders where he often prays, but now reeking of alcohol, and barely able to stand straight. For the last couple of days he has been in a foul mood, making his way from tavern to tavern, and sleeping off his drunken stupors in the temple.

Hornbow retainer or not, Vindel was arrested outside the Hornbow mansion and is now imprisoned at the War Wizards tower for two counts of assault. The Hornbow mansion was also searched by the Purple Dragons and War Wizards, and word on the street is that the they found something, but whatever it may have been, no further legal actions has been taken against the family. This doesn't stop the bitter war veterans from last summer's marshland invasion from voicing their dislike in local taverns. Many speculate that the War Wizards found illegal magics, or perhaps even proof of the family's loyalty to the traitor of the realm, Sheona Hornbow. Some comment on how Duncan's denial of association with Vindel's crimes are all too similar to what he said regarding his treacherous daughter. Many would nod and raise their ale mugs in agreement.
