Sometimes I create a character in one game and find the need to recreate that character in another game. The stats, feats and playability is all completely different of course but I find it a challenging way to 'recycle' a concept and have a fresh look at your creation with a hint of familiarity . That being said here is Moonyava in Skyrim. The look based off her current look in FRC, the greater healing staff a Skyrim exclusive ...

I do that often, too. Pete and Niriscia were from an older PNP 3.5 game, digger from a server ages ago, same for crumb. Toot was an older character that required us to create the playable frame around on here (that being the gobbledeegooks). It's fun to reimagibe on older character like that. Makes something familiar and real into something fresh and grinds another facet into a character's ever compounding complexity.

Heh, I do that too! I guess I'm kinda boring but I always use the same characters over and over again for every game I play... I use to make lots of different characters but after a while certain characters just stuck and after years of developing them and tweaking them I have the same 3-4 now that I always play. Here's a picture of me shootin a dragon in Skyrim with a um rifle cus er... guns are cool XD

I have done that as well. Nice to work older concepts into newer ones.

Real Vision ENB,
But, I went with all the lower end options with the ENB and all the lower end options for the required files. My computer is good but no where near good enough for me to go with Real Vision with Max settings >_>.... Maybe someday lol. Some pictures look extra spiffy though if you catch them in just the right lighting and at the right angle.

I tend to currently subscribe to the ' what can I do with nearly vanilla quality and a handful of mods' group . But thanks for sharing your pic! and yes, lighting and angle is always key in screen archery ~BG

If I didn't repeat the characters, they'd not be as well developed, not even close. Sylya'na'lith is now in her 9th incarnation across multiple platforms, only four of them have been NWN (well, one was NWN2, but that doesn't count). As a result, her 'bio' or 'backstory' is now good for like forty pages. What began as "let's play a primitive elf" has now developed into a living relic with more detail than I could ever possibly use.

I like using an familiar character in a new world. For me it makes it easier to learn the nuances of a place with a familiar character.
Then once I feel comfortable, I may make another.

I played Salina as an old woman on Prisoners of the Mist, it was pretty interesting.

Fenix Vale began as a space mercenary in EVE online in charge of a smuggling corporation.
Next he became the loveable, from the ashes druid on FRC
Then a manic, deranged bardic assassin in charge of an entire college of bards to promote the growth of art in all its forms in Archeage.
And so many other iterations...

Most of my characters have a history pre-frc. Allec in particular I have played on Daggerdale, Tales of the Silver Marches, legends of Luruar and a few others. Mara is actually entirely original to FrC, likewise Ben Helder.
Mara exists as an assault trooper in Xcom, Mara Shepard saved the galaxy from the reapers. Ironically haven't played her in NWN 2 but I was planning to reinstall it soon and make her, as the plot involving the keep fits mara perfectly. As well once I get a better rig built and have star citizen up and running and can make a female, Mara is going to be joining a mercenary guild, a marine specializing in boarding actions.

I avoid doubling up on characters beyond one server. For me, making up new stuff is more interesting- and after a month or so I usually have a character down enough to make up as much information about them as I need. Moving them from place to place just gets confusing since who-knows-who and histories get intermixed.

For me, making up new stuff is more interesting- and after a month or so I usually have a character down enough to make up as much information about them as I need. Moving them from place to place just gets confusing since who-knows-who and histories get intermixed. Quite so! As such, I play it as a new character each time, I'll swap the name a bit and make her a new class. She doesn't advance and stay that way when I recreate her next time, each incarnation gets chucked out of the jungle anew. I actually really enjoy her early days of "WTF am I even looking at". But each one is unique, and keeping track of who she knows is therefore quite easy. She's like Orphan Green...many lives from the same DNA. She's been played as a scout, a bow user, a rogue, a sword specialist, a spear specialist (actually my favorite), a generic sorc, a cleric of Fenmarel, a FireDancer, and now a wizard. The thing is, her backstory isn't real...it wasn't real events that were required for her to arrive at this place and time. So her past is just as fluid as her future...I keep making stuff up about her past as I go. Then when I create her again, to begin anew in a new life, I can keep that backstory, or perhaps will have thought of a new twist to try. But the bulk of it remains useful to call upon for weird jungle wisdom and ways to explain her odd perspective. Loria, however, is unique to FRC...first time for her.

Some actors are like John Guilgood: known for their Hamlet and travel on that card to great acclaim. Others prefer being chameleons, like Daniel Day Lewis. Some are both..to each their own, so long as the RP is on point.

Sometimes, but rarely. More often than not I'll pluck some personality traits from older characters and mash them into a new original character to play, and sometimes I'll reuse old character names as a nickname or as a familiar/companion/pet's name.
Nyssa's nickname, Ears, is the shortened name of my first long term RP character in 2003, Earawen, an elven druid/shifter I created when HotU was released. The rest of her are various quirks and traits from older characters, things that conflict and contrast with each other to match the duality concept of her character. Everything else from that base idea is built on by others through roleplay. I.E all the physical descriptors of her appearance barring anything RDD specific are as first described by other players.

I do that sort of thing when I feel that character didn't get a good ending.

Jabari Hahpet is an FRC OC for me and ironically my most played on FRC thus far as opposed to a few other repeats that barely see play time, although Tagnar Oathhammer is making a fast resurgence lately.

Is Tagnar a crossover from another game then? From another NWN server even, the one I played on before coming to FRC and indirectly led me here in a desperate effort at finding some fantasy RP after it dropped off activity-wise.

Feeling a bit of nostalgia mixed with a bit of curiosity of how the Elder Scrolls Anthology has gotten us to Skyrim I went back to the beginning.... Now back then I didn't really play the game and frankly didn't know what the Elder Scrolls were frankly ... and let me tell you that I definitely missed something here! Other than its 1994 pixelated mess of graphics, and some adjustments that NEED to be done to the DOS conf file (a type of DOSBX .ini basically) to make the game more smooth ... the game is HUGE, open ended with a main storyline and very enjoyable once the remapping of the controls is gotten via a little mod that brings the otherwise clunky mapping of the mid '90s to a more contemporary WASD keyboard layout with strafing and everything ... ... but yeah I won't go into a huge review or anything for there's plenty throughout the web but really I just wanted to share with you Moonyava, the Healer from Valenwood (Wood Elf) ... and hey if you have an infinity for the Elder Scroll like me give this little pixelated gem a shot Here's the link, I got the CD Version that already has the DOSBox (emulator) configured in it ... oh, AND actual audio cutscene voice acting!!! ~clicky~

There are times when I am tempted to recreate one of my original PCs -- a peasant turned knight paladin who loved to chug ale -- because she was so great at smiting things and people... but I typically make original PCs for each server (with the exception of one PC when FRC went down some years ago).
I miss playing Myrra.

I am really enjoying how Marister has developed here. He is a concept from elsewhere that was never really permitted to develop.
This world makes it easier to develop your character as unlike other places I have played. I have had very few road blocks in my way. Just friendly reminders that I had to adjust one or two things to fit to the server world.
For the most part, players here respect other players interpretations of their character and do not try to prevent you from achieving your ultimate goal for your character.
