A tall, slump-shouldered ginger-tressed woman enters the Temple of Oghma in Arabel. Gertrude Harlaw is readily recognized by Sage Notten, the attendant on duty. After exchanging some niceties, she moves to the altar, as usual, to make a donation. This one, however, might be noticed by the sage, aided by Gertrude's deliberation, as ten-fold her usual sum, a hefty one thousand coins. After placing her offering, Gertrude returns to the sage's attendant desk, extending a small parcel toward the scholar with a placid smile. "I know not the sage Melomir's residence, nor where to direct his correspondance, but it seems quite likely that he would have some commerce with The Binder. If you would be so kind as to direct this to his attention, I would be most appreciative."
Most August Sage Melomir, I was gifted a most unusual dagger fashioned of the tooth of a fang dragon. Despite my greatest efforts, including a deep and dedicated divination, I was unable to unlock this artifact's deeper mysteries. Despite being only, perhaps, a century old, the dagger is inscribed in old Loross, a tongue beyond my ken. If the eccentricity and anachronism of this item appeals to your greater curiosity, I would be most honored if you could see your way to a brief consulation. In respect to the assured value of time to one of your legendary prowess, I'd be pleased to provide compensation for any efforts you might extend. By way of credential, I am Gertrude Harlaw, a native Cormyte and veteran of the Sembian War, decorated by Lord Dauneth Marliir and currently serve as an adjutant to the chartered Ironsworn. Response may be directed to the Temple of Oghma, here in Arabel, or The Silent Room in Suzail. Thank you for your kind attention. (The missive is affixed with Gertrude's arcane mark, a stylized 'G'with the lower portion forming an eye-like glyph.)
