Hello all, I was wondering if you could save screenshots as .jpg instead of .tga because I don't have a program to open the files and view them yet alone convert them. Hey, now that I mentioned it our there any free programs that allow me to do that? Thanks in advance, see you online!

Hello all, I was wondering if you could save screenshots as .jpg instead of .tga because I don't have a program to open the files and view them yet alone convert them. Hey, now that I mentioned it our there any free programs that allow me to do that? Thanks in advance, see you online! I haven't found a free one yet, hence the "watermark" on my most recent screenshot posts. Media player will open TGA's but I don't think it will convert them. I used to have a program that came with my computer, but it suffered from a burned out motherboard so I don't have access to it any longer and can't even remember the name. If anyone runs across one, please post it here. Cheers!

A piece of software called "nero photosnap veiwer" works. I think its part of the windows media player suite. Its intended as a photograpgh processor but works well on any images - I use it to create custom portraits and convert screen files.

I use "Picture It". It's certainly not free, but it's an awesome editor

I just downloaded XNView, thanks for the recommendation Boogeidk, and find that it does what it needs to do. It's not shareware, it's not a trial, it's free. I'll let people know if the program runs well or not and definitely report if I start getting pop ups, spam or viruses later next week. Here is a link to XNView's official site if you would like to try it yourself.

I happen to be lucky and have a copy of Paintshop Pro that opens and can convert.

If you want something that has almost all the features of photoshop and is free, try Gimp.
