Directives, Intiatives, and Reform regarding Law Enforcement

In light of the recent murders in town, as well as a surge of Dark Sun cultist activities, the guards of Valkur's Roar are advised to increase their vigil in order to assure its citizenry safety and comfort.

While it is not illegal to where head-coverings, the guards are encouraged to check people wearing concealing hoods and helmets that mask their faces. Descriptions of criminals are given to the watch. Men and woman assigned to gate posts are trusted to diligently check the comings and goings of people passing through, especially those concealing their features. Suspicious activity and people are to be reported.

These measures are simple and require small effort, but can go a long way towards protecting the city from the misgivings of those seeking to disrupt our way of life.

A new board is placed within the barracks and in the Great Hall in Valkur's Roar outlining special law enforcement details. Reservists looking for work are encouraged to occasionally check these boards and sign up for the tasks they feel suited for.

An announcement is offered to the Regular Guards of Valkur's Roar -

"Let it be known that I have created a fund totaling 150 thousand gold coins that will go towards incentives for good work, funeral costs, sign-on bonuses, general wage increases, and hazard pay to for members of the guard whom this will apply. This coin is offered with the expectation of increasing recruitment, maintaining high-standards of operation, and reducing the temptation for corruption. I am aware of the responsibility that is placed on your shoulders and it is my hope that this fund shows our appreciation.

The fund is expected to expire in a year's time, to which its effectiveness will be analyzed and potentially reintroduced.

In an effort to increase confidence in and the effectiveness of the guards, Fiona begins a rigorous drilling program designed to increase discipline and teamwork. "Qualification" tests are introduced, and if they are already in place, she heightens the requirements.

Additionally, Fiona begins classes, once a tenday, to where she puts her teaching and martial expertise into practice. Guards attending these classes likely find these new qualifications easy to make.

*Several Guards take notice of these postings being renewed, most speaking good words about the training classes they've received in past years from the Ace of Blades and eager to impress for future bonuses. A few however, mutter about getting knocked on their collective arses during training drills. Another comments that he's always been bad at proper parrying techniques. The small group departs shortly thereafter.*
