*The letter written is almost like a form of art, each loop is a perfect loop, and each word leans slightly to the right as if it follows time itself*
To the council,
I write this letter in response to recent events about an Elf that was left dead within the cells of the Red Ravens. I know the person that was captured, had done many wrongs and this does not excuse those actions. I am writing to ask, that if in the future, if any Elves are to be buried as per the law stated by yourselves. That they be given the usual rituals afforded to our kin. We as a people do not bury our dead, instead we burn the body so the dust may return back to the earth itself. We do this as we fear, that necromancers or their kind, will defile our graves and cause distress to the spirit that has passed. I accept the judgement that was currently passed, and know I could do nothing to try and appease the Seldarine this time.
I humbly request that in the future, that myself or another priest of the the Seldarine, be given the chance to follow our usual rituals for our people. Of course, the law is in your hands within your walls. I hope you all will see the wisdom in my request, as it will save your Hamlet the expense of dealing with such criminals in future.
With respect,
Eil'lia, Priestess of Hanali Celanil.
*Underneath her signature is the seal of the Wardens of the Hullack. Each I within Eil'lia's name has a golden heart above it, instead of a dot.*

A sealed envelope is sent in response to Eil'lia, Priestess of Hanali Celanil, and Warden of the Hullack Forest. Within the envelope are two sheaths of parchment. Both are written in the same hand.
To the Wardens of the Hullack
We the council of Greatgaunt can confirm that it is typical that the fallen are cremated. However, we also know that not all races wish their dead to be cremated and hence have some cultural sensitivity during this time of grieving. We would also like to confirm that our gravediggers take great care to ensure that no body can be animated into an undead creature and while there are a couple of ruins near and around the village that are known to contain undead, the village necropolis is not the source of these undead.
The council of Greatgaunt
Sir Callen and the rest of the council.
Please be aware that my father and I have changed the funeral practices offered in our village fairly recently.
All funereal practices are based on the racial and regional appropriate choices of the departed to the best of our ability to fulfil said wishes and in accordance with the rites and sacrament of Kelemvor. The options include air, water, fire, earth, stone and wood services.
However for as many cases as possible we are now recommending the fire services. These services consume the body of the interred by fire and result in naught but a small amount of fine ash remainder. This ash is then selectively scattered to the winds, dusted into a river or sea, added to garden beds, stored in urns, encased in stone or wood.
For criminals the ash is removed from the village and scattered of the coast of the Starwater.
For most adventurers, as very few leave wills or have friends to attend the services, we still cremate them taking a small fee from their belongings before turning the remainder of the equipment over to the council. This cremation hopefully ensures that none that fall near or about our village return as walking dead.
Services for elves and dwarves are conducted in their native tongue and respects are paid to the Seldarine or Morndinsamman, while services for humans are to Kelemvor and their respective deities if it is identified and not an evil deity.
I have also included a letter below written in elven for delivery to the Wardens of the Hullack who have asked about what we do here, a second copy is in Chondathian.
Susan Sexton Daughter of the gravedigger.

*stuffing the parchments into the envelopes, Pett pauses to glance over the contents*
"We do that for criminals? I'll be damned. Those bastards would take every valuable we had and leave our remains for the crows."
Muttering the Red Raven adjusts his patch and adds the envelope to the stack awaiting the next Faerex or Cormex courier.
