Somewhere in the unforgiving wilderness between Suzail and Marsember, a strong and sure wind blows from the south, carrying the rainfall common to those parts with it. It begins as a black speck upon a cloudy sky, far above the plains and woodlands. The shape grows larger and less round as its altitude decreases, revealing the phantasmal outline of large, batlike wings and a long tail trailing after in the wind. Dropping into a steep dive, the ground trembles with the impact of the perfectly executed landing as two enormous talons latches onto the roof of a solitary tower in the field, the creature's powerful legs absorbing the impact. Its long, barbed tail lashes in the air excitedly, wings buffeting to keep it upright. Predatory, reptilian eyes focus on the scene underneath, a terrible maw of razorlike teeth revealed as the scaled beast surveys the landscape.
The crash of armored boots against the stone roof sounds in a lesser echo of the beast's landing. A savage man, long, unkempt hair falling down to his shoulders, soaked strands clinging to his form, rises to his full height to survey the landscape below with his uncanny companion. Wrapped in a cloak fashioned from the reptilian scales of some large, foreign predator, scaly hides, thick furs and the occasional metal plating covers his form. An armored bracer protects his left arm, long, vicious serrated talons protruding outward, only serving to frame his own clawed hand jutting out at the armguard's end. Though otherwise human in appearance, the curious limb strikes a decidedly monstrous appearance, twitching in barely restrained excitement as his sharp brown eyes absorb the scene below hungrily. A grin cracks upon his otherwise harsh countenance. Below, monstrous humanoids, and more notably, wild wyverns much like his companion dot the landscape.
"Look at them all... Cormyr is ripe as ever, its hunting grounds replenished. Why don't we indulge before returning to see what has become of the faith, huh?"
He glances the wyvern's way, the beast turning its scaly head slightly to regard him in return. Baring its fangs the monster lets out a gleeful roar. The man merely laughs, and as one, they leap off the tower, the hunter grabbing onto its companion's neck, his clawed hand digging in deep to keep him in place as the wyvern dives into a ruthless surprise assault. The giant going about its day far below could not have hoped to devise a defense against the coming onslaught...
