So usually whenever i have some down time, or even now while the server has its own downtime, I find writing to be a good way to help me revitalize RP and add a strong depth to my characters, even in the subtle ways. It also helps me relate to other characters, and use the context of a situation to create some kind of interesting circumstances. So how do we go about adding special depth to a character or just to our roleplay in general? Writing tips of course! Writing has a direct relation to roleplay, since through roleplay we are writing a story that other players get to shape and intereact with. So here in this thread, I will be posting my own, and welcoming other players to post, constructive suggestions for methods in which you can add depth to a situation through strictly the writing alone. Note: This is not a thread for saying "I don't like how x is rped, or any form of instructing a player how to RP. Keep the arguments away, and post constructively. Things that you feel can -add- to roleplay and immersion. So first off on that list would be this chart. It is a chart of how emotion can be displayed through small bits of body language, providing a source of interaction or interest into a scene. Now this can be a good use for anything from flirting with another pc, to giving the subtle expressions of hostility, joy, or anticipation. As well, it can be common themes for expressions of lying, or determining the moods of other pcs in similarity. Take a look
