I updated with the patch and it said it was sucessfull, but when I try to log on to FRC it will not allow my characters to enter. Just when I am about to log on, instead of seeing the welcome area I get a black screen saying "MISSING REQUIRED HAK Cep1patch153.hak." Any ideas? Thanks in advance

Just when I am about to log on, instead of seeing the welcome area I get a black screen saying "MISSING REQUIRED HAK Cep1patch153.hak." You will need to install CEP 1.53, as directed from several previous posts, go to nwvault.ign.com/View.php?view=Hakpaks.Detail&id=6716 and copy Cep1patch153.hak into your HAK folder.

Okay if you have NWN Platinum or Diamond etc, then you need to update your NWN to 1.67 through the update utility. If you DONT have one of the newer packs, then you need to ensure you have HOTU and SOTU(i think those are them) the two expansion packs installed, then you patch up to 1.67. Once you have a fully updated copy of the base NWN you need to make sure you have the CEP 1.52 installed. Make sure you do. Then you download the RAR file with the 1.53 .hak file in it. Copy that .hak file (NOT the PDF file) into your 'hak' folder under C:\Neverwinter Nights or were ever you installed it... then run the game...should work

Short answer, Clark, is that the .RAR file is a compressed file and you need a RAR program to uncompress it. (Such as WinRAR.) Then you need to put the .HAK file from the .RAR in your NWN/haks folder.
Foomanchu, he had to have all that other stuff to be playing on FRC to begin with.

it should say what version you have on the upper left hand corner of the update screen.
ALSO i want to clarrify the 1.53 patch.....MAKE SURE YOU "EXTRACT" THE .RAR FILE INTO YOUR "HAK" FILE.

it should say what version you have on the upper left hand corner of the update screen. ...and if it doesn't then download the critical update files from the BioWare site? I don't mind taking naps on my days off, but I've already had 2 and it's only 10:30am est (USA). Nothing else to do while waiting for it to update but nap when you have dial-up... ;D

ok this is my second time downloading this alleged patch to 1.67...and on the update screen it says "Done Downloading"...yet the game version hasn't changed. It's been on this screen for several minutes (remember I'm on dial-up) so do I need to wait until the update program extracts and dispersses the update on it's own?
...attempting to dl the critical updates via the bioware site would take approximately 15 hours with the connection speed I have...

yea it's gotta download the files, then patch the game from the files. at least that is my take on what I saw happen. perhaps yours doesnt patch automatically for some reason...I dunno, it went rather smoothly for me, and I did the CEP patch at the same time. and I am rather computer illiterate

If you mean you're still looking at the update screen and it's not doing anything, click close. NOT CANCEL. CLOSE. If it says cancel, then you're still downloading. If it says close, then you're done.

I updated three computers with NWN for this last patch, so that might make me the resident expert. The key is patience... two of the three I updated took about three minutes. The fastest computer of the three took the longest to patch, however. It looked like the patch had completed, but sort of entered a patch "limbo". It just took a little longer to inflate the files for some reason. Had I decided to quit midstream, the patch wouldn't have completed, then i would have to do it all over again, but I waited it out and after several minutes of pause it finally said "Patch Complete". I just suggest that you stick with completing the patch even when it looks like isn't doing anything.

Justicar is right (of course he is ). The last patch I was on dial up and I went into just that 'patch limbo' he described. Not only did it take an ungodly amount of time on dial up, but it took quite a bit of time to register that it was finished, even after it said it was completed. Patience is a virtue *nods sagely*

Those of you that are having issues with the CEP, check the previous thread here: frc.proboards37.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=1147285049The last two posts in particular. If it's a simple problem with the .rar file, I can always send a .zip through e-mail to you. Otherwise, follow the steps and you should be golden. The 1.67 update has already been addressed in this thread, so I won't repeat it. ~Gallin
