That is why I distinguished between 'battle type' healing and 'RP type' healing in the original post. When you mix the two you have unrealistic problems. I understand how much healing and damage can be done but when you try to use those numbers in actual RP situations, it becomes problematic. It's like a rogue coming up and holding a knife to your PC's throat and your PC saying "You can stab me 50 times with that and I won't die". That's unrealistic RP using 'battle type' conditions. Another example, though to a lesser extent, is everyone that uses dex for throwing. That's more RP realistic than using your attack bonus (which you use in combat). Think of the dunk tank with people using their attack bonus. It makes sense to use it, but in RP it just creates number problems.
I don't think it's that hard to keep RP and battle situations separate.

Soulfein, you've kind of said exactly the same thing that I was saying. But to really boil it down, the sort of DND we play here, whether it be the server itself, the game engine, or what ever the source of it, keeps giving away bigger numbers for the next better level or gear or what ever, simply for the sake of giving away something better. If you spend time practicing something or getting XP, then ... you have to get better, right? Which means bigger numbers, right? And what you end up with, as I'm a lot more cognizant of, is critical hits that can make a constitution score of 30 after 20 levels no tougher than a constitution of 10, if the crit goes high enough in damage, because it can one-shot you either way. And how in the world is having a scythe blade driven through your heart any more damaging or lethal than having a longsword blade driven through your heart? *blinkblink* Um ... it's not? But on this game engine, it just seems there *has to* be something bigger and better, so ... there just is. I don't say this as complaint. I say this as, "This is why you won't realistically see the sort of RP here that Ladyfrost is talking about." I mean ... just about anything can be fixed by a single spell cast by a low to mid level cleric. And if you think that healing spells or other forms of healing aren't meant to deal with X type of damage, consider that a low level cleric for this server (that being level 9, is it?) can raise people from the dead. We're talking calling Lazarus out of the grave like Jesus did. Raise people from the dead. So, no, I think cure critical wounds and stuff is meant to actually put a limb that's about to fall off back on. Regeneration makes limbs regrow if they've been cut off. The problem isn't people's RP. The problem, if you look at this as a problem, is the fact that on FRC, Jesus is level 9, while the level cap is 40.

If you stabbed a scythe in opposed to a longsword, that stab would be severely larger, and thus bleed more and be harder to mend shut without magic. Least jesus isnt as bad as gandalf when he killed that balrog all on his own. Came back next session with fancy new robes and such. Total exp and gold hog.

Out of the ring, guy suffers a tackle and a few punches, he's got a concussion. Wrestling = NWN
