A small, white robed figure that might be quite familiar to those who recently visited Suzail can be seen arriving near the Gates of Valkur's Roar, guiding a large wagon filled with fresh vegetables and the like. After exchanging a few friendly words with a local farmer, the halfling bard-priest leaves to put up some advertisement and loudly announce Torm's Table being performed in an hour near the gates in various well visited spots. Returning but an hour or so later, she almost effortlessly drives a large sign into the ground, proudly stating the words:
"TORM's TABLE"
((A character with Knowledge: (Religion) might know this to be a ritual a priest of Torm has to hold at least once every two months where he or she is required to feed a stranger while fasting themselves. Probably not a hard check at all, I'll just leave it up to anyone's discretion.))
She swiftly sets up a table and various pots and begins cooking a healthy, filling and in best hin manner quite tasty vegetable brooth she hands out to every passing stranger, every farmer, goodman or beggar lured by the delicious scent until her wagon's emptied, a warm smile gracing her beautiful features at all times. When she notices someone to be wounded or suffering from more than minor ills, the priestess is quick to offer various herbal remedies and even the occassional healing spell.
Behind her, perhaps rather prominently, the astute observer might notice a colourful poster attaced below the large sign declaring Torm's Table.
When asked about it at various points, the woman's smile would falter a bit, to be replaced by just a hint of pious outrage as she explains while handing out more food:
"Ah... good of you to ask, my dear. It's a bloody shame, that. Loviatan Priests being put in charge of patrols over in Greatgaunt! You heard of them? She's the goddess of agony and torture - not the gentle sort who'll ease your burdens and pains like our dear lord Ilmater, but the cruel sadist sort who'd seek nothing but to bring suffering upon others for their own sadistic pleasure.
Church of their's schismed too you hear, can't decide if they wanna serve the Black Hand or the Lady of Loss, can you believe that?
Held a speech in Suzail about it, I did, gathering support from the locals to outlaw that lot. Sounds like a trivial loophole in our laws to close, that with the Hand and Lady already are illegal, and for good reason, don't you think? Wanted to come here and speak out against it next, but what do you know, some bureaucrats tell me a priestess' not allowed to preach outside her temple these days. But I see folks put up posters all the time, so I thought I might as well join that crowd, eh?"
Giving the asking folk a wink, she hands out another bowl as she continues.
"I figure the people of Valkur's Roar know the horror's of the Dark Gods better than anyone. Bothers me to see them raise their heads here in the reaches of all places once more. Them volunteers were given free letters of recommendation to join the local city guard too just recently, weren't they? You'd think them to be more careful with who they let take command there."
She shakes her head, her soft smile laced with the most subtle signs of sadness as she continues her work.
"Well, so I've been gathering signatures from the brave folk of Cormyr who dare stand up to such. I'm not a noble, I'm not even a local, I'm just a humble servant of the True - my voice is small and won't be heard. But the voice of her people? That's not a thing so easily brushed aside."
With another shake of her head, a radiant smile returns to her comely features and she fills another bowl.
"But come now! We're not here to talk about such dark things, are we? If you want to help, feel free to sign and tell your friends to see me, but for now, dig in and enjoy a hearty meal with your fellow cormytes!"
Whenever retrieving more vegetables from her wagon, the priestess can be seen pulling out a tiny scroll, going by the size of it a mere orison or cantrip and reading it on the large pot after preparing another serving. When asked about it, she smiles briefly and explains it's a simple spell to purify food and drink, because "You can never be too careful after all!", which a character with sufficient spellcraft might be able to confirm. Either way, the vegetables certainly look fresh and hardly like they'd need it.
//As usual, feel free to have your char show up to sign, make trouble or who knows what. For ease of reference, I will be gathering all signatures from all locations in the second post in the Suzail Thread.
