OOC Note - Before reading further, I'd like to note that this narrative is part of an ongoing storyline in game that began a few months ago and involves the destructive force of storms.
This storyline and narrative are not inspired by, nor do they make light of, the damage done by Hurricane Sandy recently in the Northeastern United States.
To those who have suffered loss and hardship in the wake of Hurricane Sandy or other storms or natural events, our thoughts and prayers are with you.
On the Fourth of Uktar, 1376...
...the Wyvernwater struck the city of Immersea with all of its fury. Refugees have arrived in Suzail and Arabel bringing the strange tale of unforeseen tragedy that leaves scores of Cormyrians drowned by the tide.
The surge, now being called a Tidal Wave by learned folk, struck the city with precious little warning after a sudden thunderstorm cloaked the city in rainfall for most of the day. Near dusk, the Wyvernwater rapidly receded from the shore, leaving Immersea's fishing fleet resting on their hulls in the mud.
Those who ventured to the docks to observe the phenomenon were met with the sight of the Wyvernwater tide returning to the shore with a vengeance, towering above the piers. The wave fell upon the docks and fishing boats, crushing them as child's toys. Next, the surge struck the wall of the city and the gates broke free of their hinges after a moment of resistance. The waters poured into the city, pulling all that it could find into its swift current and dragging its grisly trophies back out into the open waters.
Now the waters are slowly receding and folks are coming out of doors and climbing down from rooftops to look out over the body of water that has been part of their way of life for generations...they look for answers to explain their loss and grief.
North of the city along the Arabel road, in the Fields of the Sullen Fallen, scores of new graves are being dug out of the earth.
