"That seems a fair price for him." Yulena said, while giving Notten a small smile. "And I do thank you for parting with Dave. He's been a good friend here, and I promise we'll take good care of him."
She hugged the old man, there in the temple, her eyes a bit over bright. The books had been packed. The parchments were stored. The library would remain much the same without her. It was a strong source of knowledge, and one she had helped build.
Standing there in the haloed halls of Oghma's grace, she felt an overwhelming sense of pride and happiness. She didn't realize her cheeks were wet, until Kelric reached up and wiped a tear away. Yulena focused in on her husband, looking up to him.
"Are you sad, my Beauty?" He murmured, his brows creased in concern for her.
Yulena shook her head no and offered him an encouraging smile. "No, this is success." She replied, turning to take in the temple once more. "One day, another young acolyte will come and use the bedroom in the back. Because this temple will survive. It has come up from the ashes, and will stand strong in the face of those who wish to corrupt and wipe out knowledge. My work here is done, and it was done well."
"We should set out, before the morning passes. I don't want to be anywhere near the scar come sunset." Yulena said, after another thoughtful pause. Kelric agreed, and they both bade Notten a final farewell.
Eventually through the gates of the city they passed, with Valor, Ghost, and Dave The Oghmanite Donkey. The open road was before them and it waited, beckoning.
