Hi, new player here.
I was wondering how the PCs and NPC's on the server would react to Red Wizards, and if it is possible to play one at this server?
I see mention here and there that the Red Wizards have been involed in conflicts with Cormyr recently. Unlike a Zhent or Banite, a Thayan wizard has a rather distinct look, accent and dresscode and would have a hard time concealing his allegiance. Basically I have been wondering if a previously unknown Thayan would recieve mostly neutral, cold or openly hostile reactions.

Let me preface this by saying this is OOC info
There is an enclave for the Red Wizards in this server. So while not appearing as a threat from my perspective, as a player, the Red Wizards are at the very least tolerated.

Having played a Red Wizard here myself for about four months, I can tell you that most people will tolerate you. Save for those that have Red Wizards involved in their backgrounds, I found most PCs to be surprisingly tolerant towards a Red.

There is an official Thayan Enclave via source material on the borders of Cormyr. They are tolerated at the moment by Cormyr because of politics and the current situation. They are soon to play a more intricate plot in FRC. The rest is for you maggots to find out

My two cents *I already lost a fortune cents by cents in posts lol* Have fun with it *I always say this I know* As our DMs gladly explained to you * * we have a good place to you here - you can either roleplay a full red wizard who lives in Thayan enclave and walks in Cormyr freely, and you can too roleplay a spy one - some red wizards are spies and most of these let their hair grow to full lenghts - the bald heads are more a fashion style in Thay than any kind of obligation - but all wizards usually use it, it's a question of status. In Thay long hairs are found usually onlt in slaves, and the longest they are the greater is the time they live as slaves - an excellent novel that talks about this is 'Red Magic' the third of the harper series - there are some sourcebooks of second edition great as well, of course I'm just baubling some words, cause either you know and readed some of these or either you didn't, and both options means nothing at all if you already knows what you wish of your character - the best of work in a PC is this, we can be all unique and not clones

Ah, thanks for the info. About the baldness, I've understood it's also for the magical tattoo's, although one of the Zulkirs has fully grown hair. Seems he gets by without that extra power boost Obviously such tattoo's have little use in nwn, but I usually take them for RP reasons. Been playing a Red Wizard on another server for about two years by the way, govenor of the local enclave by now. However I really miss CEP so I'll be spending some time here, if I can learn to cope with the lag.

Pfft, some of us actually "prefer" Thayan's rather than just tolerate them. You'll have a few friends around... just have to look. Welcome to the server!
