Hello all: I just wanted to bring everyone up to date on FRC's immediate future and what's in store for the next couple of months. 1. Bug Fixes. There are still alot of bugs "on the books" that need fixed. These are a priority but not always the most fun to "go after" so I will be working on these incrementally and when necessary. 2. Completion of old material. There are some player guild concerns that will be addressed, as well as some areas (particularly the eastern end of the module) that need to be finished. Once again, I will be working incrementally and hope to start finishing these off by the end of the month. 3. High Horn. Several months ago, Manshin (DM Laurk) submitted a beautiful area called Waddlesworth from one of his campaigns. It was too nice to pass up and I have been working to turn it into High Horn, the modules gateway to the Tun and Farsea Marshes. I have almost fully converted the areas and they are looking really nice. I should have a nicely working High Horn in by the end of the week. 4. Quest completions. There are some "dangling" quests out there that are due to be completed. Usurper is taking the brunt of the work on this and we will hopefully have a few new quests up and running within the next month or so. 5. Filling in the blanks. There are some gaps in adventure areas for characters leveled 6-12. We are aware of this and will be working diligently to bring you some great new content for these level ranges, and actually for all level ranges as we reach the completion of FRC. 6. Arabel. To be specific, this city will start to come alive finally. For those who have seen it, you know it is mostly a blank pallet. This is mainly because I was bogged down on some serious server issues that are now lightening and should continue to lighten as we move forward. This will allow me to finally start to finish Arabel and complete the vision there. 7. Tilverton. Tilverton will be an epic adventure in the module, and will be one of the final stages of module completion. 8. Into the Desert. There will be adventures into the Aunorach in the final module copy. 9. Detail finishing. Anything that isn't fully done will be completed for the final module copy. Well, that's about it. I just wanted to give an open of the year report and let everyone know what the team and I are working on and that we are getting close to the completion of FRC. Happy New Year to all, and good gaming! -- Justicar

Hey wait, does this mean you are back in business with a comp to work on FRC? I am still picking out my components for my new system (and Tiger Direct has been very difficult to communicate with through the holiday season) and should have a new one soon. In the meantime I have added a little "oomph" to my older machine and it is handling the task to an acceptable degree, though my wait times while saving, compiling, etc are slower. But yes, I am working again, regardless.

Many of these things sound awesome but the best in my eyes is the quest between levels 6-12. I cannot wait to see what your guys twisted, devious, totally out-of-whack minds (and i mean that in a good way) come up with....

To add something, the War on Lagg-orism seems to be going very well. Only once out of the roughly 15 times I've logged on since Christmas has the ping been higher than 300 on my side. Thanks.

So when do we do the server wipe? Honestly Groz, I dont know why you would say something like that. Kinda makes me want to cry. I've spent nearly a year getting from 16 to 18, why would i want to waste all that effort ;D You're just a big meany! And think about this too. Those good guys with way too much time on their hands would just go around and whoop on us all day

you mean all of us starting at first level again? awesome! i can see it now, padrin lamenting the days he could turn into a dragon, louis despartly trying to become hidden as a sharitia the tumbling paladin tries to slice him up. and of course mean old villian banite and raven recalling the good old days when they were something that the purple dragons considered a threat....

LOL In truth I hope not its taken me forever to get where I am and its been a difficult struggle since everyone hates Banites! boo hoo ;D (did that get any sympathy? lol) And hey... good guys, what are you talking about? I think there are just as many good guys that want me jailed for life as there are bad guys that want me dead. Sheesh it is hard riding the fence (and painful too!)

I really like where Frc is heading, but I'm curious about the immenent arrival of nwn 2 and its effect on Frc. I stopped by a game stop the other day and they said nwn 2 is posted to come out um...june 21st.. i think...dont shoot me if i'm off by a few days, but regardless...its coming soon. Has atari released any info about compatibility of nwn materials to nwn2? sure hope they release the tool kit again and not try to make a few extra bucks by maintaining all the servers themself. if anyone can aleviate my fears with a web link or whatnot, please do.

We have no idea yet if FRC will be transferable to NWN2. I don't think the areas will be, but maybe the NPC's, conversations and quests can, and the like.
I can say I am very much looking forward to another project come NWN2, be it FRC or another location.

If it *wimpers* would be taken away from us...i dont know what we sould do precious *his large 6'3" frame shivels up and he looses about 200 lbs and appears as gollum* no...precious dragon shape...no

This wasn't "slated" but after making some bug-fixes tonight, I decided it would be cool to redo the Mantis Clan Monastery similar to the way I did Redmist. The exterior is now going to be broken into two parts. They look awesome and will greatly reduce lag in those areas and still maintain the same functionality. Anyway, look forward to this change tomorrow. **This is now in the module.

High Horn is officially in the module. It is what I like to refer to as a "base area" meaning more will be added later, but the general look and feel is there. Now when I say later, I don't mean much later at all; we are finally at a point in the modules progress where we are doing all but finishing touches.
I would say 90-95% of the overland maps are finished at this time. There is still a bit of interior work to do, but module "real estate" won't be expanding much from here until it's completion. We will be fleshing out older areas and adding content to existing areas though.
Some overland map changes had to be made to justify the existence of High Horn. A road now runs through the Maw of the Storm Horns, where there always should have been one. We hadn't put one there because we felt that High Horn would probably never make it into the module. This has been corrected and makes for a really intersting "crossroads" for the Storm Horns; you can gain access to Skull Crag, Shallybrook, High Horn, Eveningstar and Tyrluk from this area now, as it should have been.
So enjoy and cheers as we begin the finishing touches on FRC!

I was out in Tyrluk, trying to figure something out when I noticed that the transition to High Horn worked unlike yesterday. Hooray! I thought and got my FRC map I have painstakingly sketched over the year and a half here (my how it's grown), and started to trace the road through the mountains. I looked at my map and the direction of the road and thought...Hmmm...if I don;t reach High Horn soon, I am going to end up *enters transition* Deep Into The Maw...yea I'm gonna need friends to find High Horn.

Ha! Glad you found it! Actually I changed the frosty spawns around in that area so that anyone with a decent stealth or invisibility should be able to make it through with very little harrasment. We will be looking at the spawns all across the overland maps this week as well as we start to clear the roads for safer travel to most locations. Otherwise was everything looking good on your overland maps?

I slightly expanded the areas surrounding High Horn last night for load up in about a half hour. The areas "flow" better IMO now.
Enjoy!

I'll take the tour and consult my map and see how the flow goes. I think I am gonna have to relocate a couple points of interest on my map now that I have High Horn as a central hub around which to gauge everything. this is my favorite stuff..Vind's too

Or ya know...even those odd people who travel in groups. They should be ok too if they use their noodles. (So...just remember to bring some noodles) The place looks incredible BTW - very nicely done!

There is something to be said about the long time honored tradition of using a torch instead of magic to light your way. Thats what we need...NPC torch bearers Anyways thats all off topic Dirk Perfect good grief I can't talk on topic to save Ranan's soul. I went there with a party though and already mentioned to Justi my comments but again...Awesome job very creative use of the tool set. Adventurers and adventurettes if you have not made the walk yet you need too, you are in for a treat. The walk there and the town are amazing to look at. You really feel like your character is steadily getting higher and higher into the mountains.

I haven't touched this topic in a little while, mostly because I have been working to reduce lag and couldn't really make much "forward" progress on areas and such. I will have some things to report here really soon, so I wanted to bump the topic. There are several guilds that need some minor work done, and I wil be spearheading those projects. Once those things are finished I will be working to complete the Hullack, and DM Ainur also has some gems to throw in there as well. Laurk is working on a High Horn project that is looking incredible and we will be working together to make those areas an "attraction" for mid-to-upper levels. DM Usurper is working on a project that will change the way characters are generated into FRC, and possibly the way good and evil respawn (location-wise). Along with my project of adding loot to some poorly served areas there will soon be no better time to get out and explore FRC. New content will be coming weekly once again, sometimes daily. Cheers!
