Going to make a special thread that'll detail several charts for [hopeful] quick reads and research. It primarily expounds upon the Cleric, Domains and Deity thread on the forums somewhere, by categorizing things a bit more succinctly, or so the hope is. Charts made for NwN2/FRC2 are not yet fashioned. Deities based on region can be found in the Regional Chart Thread. Future Project(s): Divine Champion Weapon Selection chart based on deity. Divine Champion enemy selection chart.Footnotes: Bahamut has been included in Other Deities of Faerun chart. Inconsistant alignments for clerics on certain deities shall be fixed as well for these charts. Special monk and paladin orders are already detailed elsewhere on the forums, but are liable to find quarter here too, for purposes of consolidation. Uthgardt barbarian tribes are likely to be stuffed in here as well for the purposes of his clerics having an abstract on what their tribe is about.

Okay. Seriously. What is this garbage? I understand that someone may have worked hard on this, but as far as I can tell -every single- god on this chart is done incorrectly when it comes to domains.
Lets use an easy example - Moradin. Moradin's domains are: All, combat, creation, divination, elemental, guardian, healing, law, protection, sun, and war. His portfolio is: Dwarves (survival, renewal, and advancement), creation, smithing of all sorts, craftsmanship, war, the dwarven race, protection, metalcraft, stonework (stonemasonry, tunneling, construction), engineering, dwarven engineers, protection. His clerics are allowed to be Lawful good and his followers are allowed to be LG, NG, CG, LN, N, CN This chart got his portfolio right, But claims that his clerics can be LG, LN, NG. Even worse, you have it so that the domains they can take are Good, Protection, and Earth.
If were to create some kind of pvp balance, I'd understand, but this isn't a pvp server. On top of that, War, sun,and healing are of his major spheres but a cleric of Moradin can't take them? I understand that NWN doesn't include all the FR domains, but why take away the option to follow a god's portfolio as closely as possible with the available tools? I questioned a dm about this, as to the reasoning behind this decision, and the answer I got was "This was a choice made by dms long ago" but, this decision defies logic. A war god who's clerics can't take war? A healing god who's clerics can't take healing? And this is just -one- of the forgotten realms deities. If someone can explain a valid IC/setting reason for this, or how a war god's clerics being unable to access the war domain enhances role play, then I'll be happy to retract my statement, but this ruling really does nothing to help RP and in fact it seems to be designed to hinder proper role play of the forgotten realms setting....

I think CS has done fine, but I wanted to respond directly to that example as well. As to domains...I've had enough experience with the DM team here to know that they take such things seriously. Also, if you look at it from some perspectives Strength can fall under the domain of Protection, as can War for that matter. So I think often times such things are done and so long as the person's rp supports it they're accepted.

I'm not sure the source youre quoting, nor where you originally hail from, but in this community...we try to address indifferences in a more respectful manner. Sorry you're displeased, I guess? The domains the founding father's chose for clerics to have here are not without base, as the others above mentioned. 1.) The domains come from the Faith's and Pantheon's as mentioned. The titles of the charts link to these pantheons. 2.) Deities that lacked 2 domains (due to not being available in NwN) were given 1 to 2 other options for players. 3.) Generally, if a deity had 3 or more domains and didn't need other options to be given...then they simply weren't given it. Could certain domains be reconsidered. Maybe? But the current establishment is simple, effective, and sticks to true source as best able.

Hey guys, New here. Love what i've been seeing here so far and cant wait to get into game. Trying to find some spare moments. Was thinking/wanting to play an undead hunting cleric. Unfortunately only found 2 deities with the "Sun" domain. Neither of them were Kelemvor. Oh well next char idea methinks. Pls disregard this post........ Reading has such wonderful benefits  Lathander it is then.

I'm not sure if this has been discussed, but I know of at least one server that realized that kelemvor paladins clerics (my bad) not being given anti-undead capability like they should be was a major oversight, so they allowed Kelemvorites to take sun. in 3.0 he's given Repose ( www.dandwiki.com/wiki/SRD:Repose_Domain ) for this very reason. The fact is it's weird that Kelemvorites are second to Lathandrites when it comes to banishing undead due to wonky mechanics. Just wondering if that had been considered here as well.

Could the pantheon lists get a quick review or a source check or just a statement that the above is FRC's gods despite any canon differences?

In 3rd Edition Mystra is Neutral Good. Prior to 3e she was Lawful Neutral. Mystra as NG matches the information presented in the 3e Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting and the 3e Faiths and Pantheons. Mystra's alignment changed to Neutral Good in 1358 DR when Midnight became the third version of Mystra. Some of Mystra's older clergy still follow the one-step alignment rule as through she were still Lawful Neutral, but her new clergy (since 1358 DR) treat her as Neutral Good for purposes of the one-step alignment rule. This is why in the listing: Mystra Neutral good Magic, spells, the Weave Good, Knowledge, Magic CG, LE, LG, LN, NG Mystra's cleric alignments are listed as CG, LE, LG, LN, NG. She has the clerics of her current alignment (NG allows LG, NG, CG) and the clerics of her previous alignment (LN allows LG, LN, LE). Any clerics worshiping her in her LN aspect would be quite old by now though, since she's been in the NG version for 20 years in-game.

Any clerics worshiping her in her LN aspect would be quite old by now though, since she's been in the NG version for 20 years in-game. Well even if we're just talking regular humans, they wouldn't be "that" old. Twenty years is a fairly short time (well, to younger players on here, twenty years might seem like forever, but to us older players the 90s was only yesterday!). Unless people don't age well in the Forgotten Realms, heh. But you would have plenty of evil Mystra clerics running around today in the prime of middle age.
