But what about the Assassin's Death Attack and how it functions?
Assassin's Death Attacks only work if opponent is NOT IN COMBAT.
So if your target is IN COMBAT, your SOL, using your Death Attack wise.
Thats why Assassins can HIDE.
BUT what if against Horde, or even 2 enemies, instead of one?
You Hide, you Death Attack. Then you GET NO MORE DEATH ATTACKS because IN COMBAT.
But wait HIPS(Hide in Plain Sight), allows you to EXIT OUT OF COMBAT, HIDE, THEN DEATH ATTACK AGAIN, thus allowing the assassin to DEATH ATTACK more then once against 1,2+, and maybe have a better chance against 1,2+, depending on situation.
Basically without HIPS, or some other way for Assassins to Death Attack, more then once, or even once, outside of, before, beginning, after, during combat, because either not in combat, or can exit combat, hide, then Death Attack after exit from combat, hide, before in combat, the Assassin is SERIOUSLY NERFED, WITHOUT IT BEING A SUPPORT CLASS, LIKE THE ROGUE CLASS.
That is why some 3.0 3rd Ed books, and 3.5 both combined together gave Assassins HIPS. To UNNERF Assassins.
Also that is why Almost ALL PW's on THE LIST, Either allow Shadowdancer/Assassin Combo, an or give Assassins HIPS at 8th to 10th level.
Also Assassins were not designed to be support like Rogues in CONCEPT.
Assassins were designed to be either a viable Single Class,Core, almost stand alone non support class Prestige Class upgrade of a single class, OR be a support class, but only if want.
Also Roleplaying wise Assassins, were designed to be NINJA. They should have called it the NINJA class, instead of Assassin Class. Ninja Class only came out with Pathfinder.
Ninja Assassins Roleplaying Wise could Death Attack a enemy if they were unaware, not in combat. And against 1 to 100 enemies, Ninja Assassins could exit out of combat, HIDE IN PLAIN SIGHT, THEN DEATH ATTACK again.
That's even in popular oriental culture, history, myth, etc, roleplaying oriental culture, history, myth, etc, source material, history, myth, etc, books,movies, games, etc.
So unless there is a way other then HIPS, an or combining Shadowdancer, Assassin, it sure seems like your Seriously Nerfing BOTH the Assassin class, and the NINJA ASSASSIN ROLEPLAYING CONCEPT BUILD IDEA, CONCEPT.
Now I could be wrong, and this could just be my perception of my opinionated understanding of the logic, reason, facts, info, etc, on, about, this.
So interested in what you say, because of that, and also because in a way, it does not matter what I think, say. I'm not in charge. Your in Charge, and its your PW not mine. Your the DM, not me.
But also because I would like to Play, RP a Ninja Assassin Concept that can Death Attack concept wise, where the Ninja Assassin Hiding, stealthing, suddenly appearing, Death Attacking, then Disappearing, then reappearing, then Death Attacking, without being NERFED.
I have played, RP such a concept, class by either playing a Monk/Ranger/Assassin, or Monk/Rogue/Assassin or Monk/Assassin/Shadowdancer, or Ranger/Assasin/Shadowdancer or Bard/Assassin/Shadowdancer, or Rogue/Assassin/Shadowdancer.
So if cant do one of those options.
What Alternatives, Options, do you have for playing, RPing a NON NERFED NINJA ASSASSIN THAT CAN FIND A WAY TO DEATH ATTACK a enemy before combat, as per Assassin Death Attack Rules, game mechanic, without being nerfed in process?
PS Note: Those Monk/Ranger/Assassin type combos I played, RP ed, had HIPS at 8th to 10th Assassin Level. If it hadnt, I Probably wouldnt have had been able to play RP the Ninja Assassin Death Attack concept, class build, concept, idea, etc.
