*Chuckles* Now dear, I believe little Tori must've forgotten when she pleasantly handed a sorry human male's butt to him on a silver platter not too long ago. See? Tori can fight back. Cheers, DM Bassa Well... There's a difference between a good fight and teaching that sorry, no good, *insert random colorful metaphors here* son of a she-wolf a lesson. 'Course that did make me feel good... I should teach more people lessons...

You'd better clean up your mess then... Otherwise your next lesson will be to see how long it takes for a frayed rope to snap while you're tied up with it, by your big toes, and hanging over a pit of lava.

*clears his throat a bit* Yes well... back to a topic that we left a page ago, if anyone finds someone hiding behind the PvP rule, use your print screen button freely to log the conversation, and send word to a DM. The rule is in place to prevent random murders with no reason. Just because you are CE does not give you an excuse to run up to the campfire, and kill everything you see. If you don't want PvP, don't play a charecter who talks down to everyone, because I garuntee you will be put in your place. The PvP I've seen has been very well played, no matter who won or lost. Keep it up folks! Oh and uh... *cough* SAMURAI'S ARE SISSY'S! *cough, cough*

Something got lost in the "potty training excersize" ( funny as it was ;D )
1: Detect Evil ; yes or no as a paladin abillity ?
2: Can Paladins "detect" Blackguards ?
I have never used the supposed "detect evil" which paladins are "supposed" to have , I gathered that it was left out for a reason *shrugs* I can understand that somebody would want it though. . .
If the answer to the above is yes then it would open up totally new doors for my character "rp wise"

Detect Evil and Detect Good - usable by Paladins and Blackgaurds, respectively - would be for more of a RP thing. Even if they use it, they just feel the presence of evil in the area; not from anyone specifically... besides, as long as you haven't commited a Crime, a Paladin wouldn't be able to do jack against you. A blackgaurd who is smart would also certainly not do anything to a good character, unless they moved against him.

A blackgaurd who is smart would also certainly not do anything to a good character, unless they moved against him. Well, I think he would. Maybe not if it somehow makes his plans more difficult, but if the blackguard could both strike a blow against the good character and follow his plan without any bumps, he most probably would. For example, let's say the blackguard is preparing to have a leader of some random local community assassinated. He could do this the simple way, or he could twist things a bit and involve the good character as a patsy. He doesn't have to, but he could, and probably would given the chance.

A blackgaurd who is smart would also certainly not do anything to a good character, unless they moved against him. Well I think that is the point... my understanding is that the DMs have a different POV regarding Blackguards and Paladins. Therefore, I think they need to officially make a ruling. As I understand it right now (based on comments from a couple of DMs) a BG cannot hide his true colors and the expected RP of a BG would be to crush all good. In addition, BGs are so evil that detect evil would easily give them away. Also, Gusty made a good point about PCs gaining BG status in PnP after a visit from a fiendish outsider... I for one wouldn't mind seeing this incorporated into FRC. Could be a way of making sure whomever walks the path of pure evil understands what they are getting into.

Please don't all welcome me back at once, as the name will probably change in the future.
Being (afaik) the "first Blackguard" on the server I would like to point out a few things.
#1: Being evil. Just because you are evil doesn't mean you go around destroying everything. I played (past tense) Garland...or tried to play him...as a soon to be tyrant. A "taking the law into his hands" type of guy. I looked at other fictional characters such as Dr. Doom for examples. Doom was a respected and feared leader among his people, but he also wasn't going out and rooting out "the good guys". He planned for world domination...with everyone under his "law".
#2: More than one evil. Like I'm saying above there is more to "evil" than being "evil". Just as there is with "good". Not all CG and LG people get along (sometimes CG has to break the law to achieve what is good about what they are doing). Same thing goes for evil. We can't have LG, NG, CG, and Evil as the only alignments. Don't lump all the "evil" together.
I think that's it for now. I'd rather go play than discuss.
A LE Blackguard is way different than a CE one.

Yeah, I totally agree that things shouldn't be too black and white at all. Basically try to relate the many alignments to the many many more possibilities in which they can be played out.

there are pleanty of evil people that would be evil while not wanting to put on the look, or even not being concious of being evil.

I agree with Garland that there are three different types of Blackguard based on thier specific alignment. I still hold to my point that paladins and blackguards need to be more alignment conscious then any other character out there and need to be more gung ho in the expression of their faith. Now I have a Blackguard, I will show you how it works. enjoy. *cues the Night on Bald Mountain theme and laughs evilly*

there are pleanty of evil people that would be evil while not wanting to put on the look, or even not being concious of being evil. Yeah but still . . . Look at the Chr dexcriptor : A Blackguard epitomizes evil. He is nothing short of a mortal fiend , a black knightwith the foulest sort of reputation. A blackguard an evil villain of the first order, equivalent in power to the righteous paladin, but devoted to the powers of darkness. No one class makes the best blackguard - all that is required is a willingness to serve the forces of darkness. the way I read it : See the blackguard and RUN ! ! I dont even think you should have to be a Paladin to have to spot him regardless of alignement(s) or to which degree of evil he belongs, and / or Detect Evil ( Which doesnt exist in NWN ). . . Think Darth Vader , Jeremy Irons henchman in the "classic" movie ( thats sarcasm ) Thulsa Doom in Conan, or General Kaal (sp?) in Willow. .Any sane character would say "he is evil , time to split". Everybody knows what a blackguard is .. It is a very hard class to play , cause almost every good chr will shun and/or attack you . . . I even think the city guard shoud attack BGs on sight. . . Just my 2 coppers worth Be good B
