Petrification isn't permanent. On hardcore settings, it's supposed to be... was this a change to the actual spell(s) so that they wouldn't be permanent?
Noticed monsters still have crits and potions still heal random amounts.

I think it is perminent. The other night, I was following some characters in the marsh of Tun, and one of them got petrified by a gorgon. They sat there for over an hour while one of their companions ran for help and the player never recovered. If the effect was going to wear off, it would have done it long before the giants happened upon that poor petrified sod and smashed him into gravel. What petrified you exactly? Maybe a DM thawed you out? Was it a spell or a monster ability?

I cast flesh to stone on an ettin which was thawed as I walked back by.
Also, another player said she was farming basilisks 6 days ago and the petrification wasn't permanent- same player says medusa's is permanent, but not the basilisk.

As some one who has been petrified on more than one occasion, *sigh*. It is permanent. Upon failing a save a screen will display not unlike the one that appears upon death. The only choice not present is to re-spawn. I have also stood guard over another character for about an hour while help was summoned to reverse the effect. Errr.. by the way it would be nice if a potion or some item was available other than the wizard scroll "Stone to Flesh" was available. (Hint..hint...)

how weird... I just used it on an orc who stood frozen until I grew bored and killed it... I hadn't rested before walking back by that ettin, so maybe it was through DM intervention or a temporary switch in the difficulty slider.

Perhaps this is one time where it works one way for players and not the other for monsters. The spell description says that it is permanent unless the caster rests ... otherwise it is one round per caster level.

Potions of flesh to stone would be useless... the character can't drink them. How ever there is an item for sale (in the mod already) that casts flesh to stone for those without the ability.

If I am ever turned to stone, and noone has the ability to help me... please kill me. Actually, to be serious about it... I suppose you could kill the afflicted player and then raise them. Since our raise dead scrolls do far more than they should anyway, it seems like that would work.

Is "noone" a word? ;D

you cannot respawn as the petrified screen doesn't give that option (I think because Bioware expected people to always play on normal or easy thus making it only temporary- silly Bioware) and so all you get options for is exit or wait. So at worse, it ends your day with that PC, no big deal Phelzaron was turned to stone in front of the inn once and he sat there for 45 mminutes watching people walk by him without saying a word! Finally a dwarf passed by, made some comment about dumb garden statues, and then upon closer inspection, killed him and raised him. by the way, petrification ends after reset. and noone is not a word

Zae got petrified next to Phel, and everyone just walked by and ingnored us poor petrified souls till Guldar came and saved us ;D

You find that funny? You wanna make Zae angry or what? You'd not like Zae to be angry at ye...
