Before the weekend is here you will see that Redmist has been completely re-fashioned. I was about to do the Suzail NPC's and then decided that this town has probably been a major source of lag for long enough. It was sized 26x24, had around 40 NPC's in that same space and doors/transitions leading to 20-some places, including the interiors.
I am proud to say that I was able to keep every single aspect of Redmist intact and lost no NPC's while breaking it into four sections. This will be on the server by Friday I am pretty sure. I think this will have a fairly substantial effect on reducing lag as this kills a major sore spot for the module.
This really wasn't easy, but I am relieved to report that I have finished the major part of the conversion outside the running module for import tomorrow night. I will bug test it tomorrow and then import it back into the main module. This will finally reduce the single most lag causing area next to Isinhold in the whole module and will certainly lead to the very last leg of phase 1 of lag reduction.
After this major improvement, I will be working on the module, but not uploading a new copy until the current version "settles in" and becomes stable once more. This next week will see the end of phase 1 and then onto fine tuning.
The only difference you will see in Redmist is that it is now quarters and that lag will be vastly reduced there, and this will probably have a decent impact on server lag as well.
Cheers!

I would suggest checking out the Eveningstar crypts, my experience is that something there may be causing lag. On a separate note, not sure if you intended it but the respawn times are super fast. Particularly in the main room, new spawns were occuring even before we could fully clear out the area.

I am sure you are right about this. Now that the first phase of the lag reduction is winding down, these sorts of things are on the list now. Cheers!

I am about to change up the entire way that area is addressed. I have an idea that should really help that area out and maintain it's great beauty.

I put multiple more NPC's on encounters tonight and fixed multiple smaller bugs. There is still alot of work to be done, but just wanted everyone to know I am still working to reduce lag in general.

Placed about 20 more NPC's on timers. There are just a handful left, probably about 30. I also just recently re-cached multiple scripts that will help out through the Thanksgiving weekend. Soon onto phase two... this is where I redesign all those areas that might be causing lag. This includes towns, caves, other areas, etc... I already have about 10 areas earmarked. This should be pretty quick, and I will most likely pass through phase two through the weekend. Then onto phase III which is inventory content reduction, general script examination and merchant reduction, especially in line with the latest round of bans. Ugh...

here justi, i offer you this stuffed vulture and a handful of corrosive darts to target practice with. feel free to torture the vulture symbolizing the complaining players who always press you so hard... ;D on a serious note: i have noticed a dramatic decrease in lag. this is really helping out.

There are alot of changes in tomorrows load. Nothing too drastic, but alot of old issues have been resolved. Since most involve know exploits, I will just say that and nothing else. Many a' loose end has been tied as well, and I am ready to start delving into the last of phase I lag reduction. Other things that have needed to be done for a long time including some specific player (guild and individual) issues will be addressed this week.
Basically, good stuff is about to happen across the board.

I got quite a bit done last night. I finished the store conversions for items, was able to get a few more NPC's on timers, finally fixed the Hashard pendant quest, cleaned up some bugs.
I also started in on a couple of overdue player projects.
I hope to make a real impact tonight and start moving forward on some new content I have been planning for a long time as well as finish up phase I of lag reduction.
Cheers!

I will be loading up a new module copy in about 20 minutes. Made multiple bug fixes and placed several more NPC's on timers. I reduced a large number of placeables in some rarely used areas and added/tweeked a few creatures for the recent removal of DR.
Cheers!

This topic hasn't been touched in a while but I thought this relevant, so here it is.
I have quietly been in Phase II of lag reduction for about a week now. It's mostly been pretty minor stuff but I hit pay dirt a couple of days ago.
I found a source of heartbeat scripts that I hadn't considered to be an issue until very recently. CEP lighting... turns out most of these have a pretty nasty heartbeat script on them that is easily disabled by turning the object static and taking the script off the object. I have started on this process and have worked through about half the modules areas looking for suspect CEP lighting. I have disabled around 100 or more heartbeat lighting scripts and so far it has had a fairly positive impact on overall lag.
Tonight I saw the module ping below 100 for the first time in a VERY long time. Granted we had a small load on at the time, but I know this means that progress is being made along with the rest of my Phase II operations.
I will continue working on this and other means of decreasing lag as we move toward the last months of FRC's development. I still have many things I can do that I think will help with lag and I will see them all through before we call the project "finished".
Cheers!
