For the past three years or so, my brother (@alrecenk on Twitter) has been developing a deck-building game somewhat influenced by deck-building games like Nightfall and Dominion.
For a year and a half, the game has been more-or-less done and he's been taking it to local game stores and playtesting it to tweak and balance it.
He is a computer programmer by training, with specialization in machine learning and computer vision, so he's also written A.I. to play the game, and has tested the game balance extensively by having a computer play itself far more times than it would be practical to test with humans.
Well, his game, Angel Investor, is finished and he's put it on the thegamecrafter.com as a crowd sale for its initial launch.
Angel Investor is a deck-building game wherein players are investors in projects for technology start-ups, and each deck that is built represents a start-up project. The goal of the investors is to gain the most fame for their involvement in investment projects before the money runs out. The investor with the most fame at the end of the game is the winner.
The game is moderately complex, but has a cute animals-in-business theme, with all cards featuring commissioned artwork from Amy Falcone (@amytfalcone on Twitter).
Don't let the cute animals fool you, this game is serious business.
Anyway, it's on crowd sale for two weeks starting yesterday, and getting it during the launch sale is probably the most affordable way to get it, so I figured I'd plug it here. Maybe some of you guys would like a new deck-building card game.
A crowd sale is a product sale format where the price of the product decreases for all buyers the more copies of the product are sold during the sale. The merchant thegamecrafter.com isn't just selling the product for my brother, but also responsible for the game's manufacture on a per-sale basis, so basically, the sale is a bulk manufacturing discount distributed to all buyers.
