DM responses only
Guilds and groups have item(s) which allow access to areas only for members. Can it also be role played as a communication device between members? I played on a world which this could be done. The person appeared as a "hologram" or "vision" (for lack of a better term).
Occasionally Marister has gotten tells on members who need assistance or was asked to meet somewhere. Scripting really would not need to be changed a tell could be prefaced : " Guildie taps guild item to contact other guildie* " Meet us at or I need help at" *guildie taps item and responds" " On my way" Or *Image of a guildie appears. "I need help" " On my way" *image vanishes*
If permissible in the frc setting this would be the easiest. Other ways are possible but I did not want to clog the thread by deviating from the original question.

No, the guild tokens are not communications devices. You should never be responding to /tells from people asking for "assistance." (With the exception of "I'm stuck in a wall or tree, can you come here so I can autofollow you?") It's fine to meet up OOC with someone to go on an adventure. It's not fine for you to meet up with someone who is already on an adventure and needs help with monsters that proved too problematic for them to handle without you, whether that character is already dead, or very likely to be dead if they engage without your PC. Allowing the tokens (or anything else) to be used as communications devices would be an excuse to bring these OOC issues in-character. No little birds whisper to your character that so-and-so wants to meet with you, no Sendings suddenly come to you that so-and-so is in danger. The meet-ups via /Tells are strictly out-of-character. It should not be represented by magical communications. You can roleplay that you pre-arranged to meet somewhere, either by leaving a note at the inn or just making plans together in advance, but that somewhere should not be to join a character already in the middle of an adventure, and the OOC communication should not be glossed over as magical communication. There are other ways you can RP magical communication besides /tells to meet-up, if your character might have access to such magical communications. Like a Sending to speak to a relative for news from your distant homeland, or to send a message to a player on the forum that you can't reach in-game. In-game meeting arrangements are better handled OOC than IC, because the IC means create blurry lines of usage in dangerous situations. As long as it's out-of-character, the guidelines can be kept cut and dry. So no, your guild tokens aren't communications devices.
