I did a search for this and came up empty. I have heard there is a way to paste large amounts of text copied from a source into the talk box. I have no idea how to do this since the talk box does not give the option to paste anything. Any help on this would be appreciated because I'm a slow typist.

Highlight, press ctrl + c, then go to the window, start your text message, and hit ctrl + v. This only works up to the string limit of the NWN engine at this time.

Thanks. I assume I have to be playing in windows mode, not full screen. How do I change to windows mode?

You don't have to be in windowed mode. Just alt+tab from the game to the desktop, copy your text with ctrl+c, then go back into the game and paste. I've done this lots of times where a character of mine was saying a poem or a long story, or some long monologue in an event.

Tried it and it worked, but was limited to no more than 10 words at a time. In the time it takes to Alt tab, copy, and get back in to paste, I can type ten words. Would only be usable if I could paste larger amounts.

It isn't about the number of words, but the normal allowable amount in a chat message- the more clear limit for copy/pasting is the total character available to one chat message. If you aren't able to copy/paste more than, say, twenty characters, it sounds like something is messed up with your clipboard rather than the game itself.

If you're hitting a limit at 10 words, that's likely because you have a carriage return (line break) at the end of 10 words.
If you're pasting something that is multiple lines of text, it will often only paste to the end of the first line. This is because the source text has some kind of line break or carriage return indicator there. If you're copying from a word processor where the whole paragraph has no carriage returns, but instead is just wrapping at the character limit, it will work better than, say, copying from a PDF where text is fixed to wrap at certain places.
If you're wanting to copy something long from a PDF, it's best to paste it into a text editor first, make sure word wrap is off, and manually remove the line breaks at the ends of the lines. This is also true of pasting from some webpages.
There is, of course, a msximum number of characters that can be pasted into the NWN chat box as well, but it's a lot more than ten words. Even typing, you can type quite a bit past the edge of the viewable chat line and it will register. (I do hit the limit sometimes though.)

Also to switch to windowed mode, you need a lower resolution then your desktop and then Alt+Return should switch.
