The shift in the air, the way it gets a little warmer each day, brings a promise of a new beginning. Birds are especially louder as they fly north once more, chirping loudly in the dawn of each morning. Though the frost still might crisp the hills of the Stormhorns, it is long forgotten by the time the wind reaches Great Gaunt, Arabel, or Shallybrook.
Merchants are picking up trade as the hustle and bustle for Greengrass begins. Brightly painted signs and banners find their beginnings in a few fresh boards and canvas. Seamstresses are picking up a lot of coin in hard work as yard upon yard of fabric is dyed a deep bright green. The people laugh as they wrap up long days of work with fingers hewed verdant, with jokes of being particularly blessed by Chauntea and her green thumbs.
The Sugarsmiths and Fireside Feasts receive parchment orders, shipments and plans for the catering of the festival. Both Bao and Manus known for their delicious mastery of food, with their assistants grumbling (but in good nature) for the sheer amount of work needed for the cause. There was one sighting of several young rapscallion halfling boys being chased away from the bakery in Shallybrook from a rather stressed out Merridoc, her rolling pin aiming to firmly swat their backsides.

((OOC ))
This is some ooc clarification I received in pm's. We have new players so they may not actually know what is going on.
Egg hunt you find eggs hidden in forest.
The reason behind no magic spells, potions, gear, etc. Greengrass is a celebration of nature. So the contests we have are a test of one's natural skills.
In regards to the melee and accuracy contest it is like day one of your training by which you had no special gear or weapon. We have divided it into three levels:
Levels 1-10 will compete against each other.
Levels 11-20 will compete against each other.
Levels 21+ will compete with each other.
In regards to the accuracy contest we have given the option of rolling dex or wisdom but you must stick with the first choice.
Prizes will be awarded as to what they will be you will have to see day of the event.
We are still fine tuning things. We wanted event times posted as soon as possible so people could plan.)) ooc

Greengrass has begun! As the warm spring has rolled over the country and the frost has lost her grip on all but the highest peaks of the land, the prosperous folk of Cormyr make ready for the annual celebration of the spring in hopes to usher in the bounty of the summer. Greengrass is not only known in Cormyr, but is celebrated by different religions and groups all across Faerun, it is highly likely that you have celebrated it or at least seen others celebrating it every year. Each group has their own special twist on how to do so however, and each celebration is as unique to the region, religion, or spirit. Just as one might know what a creekbed looks like, but the stones that line it are always different. Here in Cormyr, This Greengrass festival is sponsored by the Guardians Druid Circle. Today will be a day of sport games, eating delicious food, and enjoying music with dance and song. Features of the festival are posted on brightly painted posters that list: Pie Eating, Dunk Tank, Egg Hunt, and a Raffle as well. The opening ceremonies start at the top of the hour and can be found by going to Waymoot, and following the bright green clover path out of the village, south, into the peaceful Kings Forest.
