This is looking just like the other RP PW.
1. I create lev 1 Monk
Stats str 10
Dex 18
Con 10
Int 12
Wis 16
Cha 8
Then I start.
Then not allowed to enter Cormyr to buy Armor, Weapons Gear.
Told must get a Adventure Lic from outpost.
No store in outpost.
Talk to the Captain. Choose Dalelands. Get nice Bow BUT NO ARROWS.
Captain says to talk to guy that give lic
Guy that give lic says talk to guy upstairs, guy upstairs say to fight goblins to get license, to enter Cormyr to be able to buy the gear needed to fight beat the goblins needed to enter Cormyr.
So with NO GEAR, NO REST KITS. NO WAY TO REST. NO ARMOR. NO WEAPONS WITH AMMO AND ONLY A BOW WITHOUT ARROWS. ONLY 10 CURE MINOR WOUNDS POTIONS THAT HEAL ONLY 1, 2 HP, I go out to fight the goblins
1st goblin dead. Lose 1 hp. 2nd goblin dead lose 1 hp. 3rd Goblin dead. Then 2 goblins attack 1 goblin dead. Other Goblin hits for 5 hp. Down to 1 hp left. Goblin hits again. Character Dead.
At least character was a monk with a 17/18 AC with unarmed attack doing D6 dam with a BAB/AB of ZERO(No Weapon Finesse because cant start Ranger then go Monk without joining a order.
But if had been any other character it woukd have been worse
No armor would have been 10 to 14 AC instead of 17/18 AC. And there would be no Armor because no Armor for sale at the Outpost. Have to enter Cormyr to buy Armor, but have to fight goblins with 10 to 14 unarmored AC to get into Cormyr to buy Armor.
Which means the Character will probably die before getting into Cormyr.
But oh wait, maybe a character could have a weapon and beat goblins.
Maybe if choose right background, not the dalelands, can get a sword, etc, that character can use, has Prof in, so that dont take penalty to hit, instead of a Bow with NO ARROWS.
That way AC 10 to AC 14 character can at least do D4, D6, D8 damage instead of using D2 damage fist.
But if unlucky, then AC 10 to AC 14 character gets stuck with BOW with NO ARROWS, because they chose Dalelands. And so they have to use their fist, with probably a -1,-2,-3,-4 penalty to hit, and only do D2, D3 damage.
Why? Because they cant buy gear until enter cormyr, and cant enter Cormyr until fight goblins without BASIC CLASS APPROPIATE GEAR, UNLESS THEY GET LUCKY, CHOOSE THE RIGHT BACKGROUND INSTEAD OF DALELANDS.
AT LEAST I had a monk character that didnt need gear, IN THEORY
AND STILL DIED.
THINK THAT IS KIND OF BS.
THINK THAT SHOULD BE ABLE TO BUY, FIND, GET, ETC, CLASS APPROPIATE BASIC GEAR, ARMOR, WEAPONS, HEALING POTIONS THAT HEAL 1 D8 hp instead of D2,D3, D4 pathetic cure minor wounds potions, BEFORE HAVE TO GO FIGHT GOBLINS.
I mean that BASIC CURE LIGHT WOUND POTIONS THAT HEAL D6, D8, 3, 4,5 HP on average usually only cost 35 to 75 gold, and usually are easily bought at a nearby store.
There should be a BASIC STORE in the outpost. Then you buy Basic Gear, then fight goblins.
At least I had a Monk.
Now that I know about this.
I will never ever start out as anything but monks.
Why start out as anything else, when you will have a 10 to 14 AC, having to fight goblins with FIST.
BS.
And only way to combat that BS is with a monk that STILL DIED.
Guess going to have to approach this BS the way approach the Darksun Gladiator Pits
MAKE A CHARACTER TREE
Not going to wander the Fugue Plane, until get back on material plane, with 10% less gold, because killed by Goblins, not equipped to fight, then get killed again, then wander fugue plane more, then lose 10% more gold, RINSE REPEAT OVER AND OVER IN FRUSTRATION.
Nope going to avoid that BS.
If character dies to the beginning of the game goblins, then respawn to fugue plane, exit PW, reconnect, create next character, click play, fight goblins, die, respawn to fugue plane, exit, reconnect, create new character, click play, RINSE, REPEAT, until FINALLY BEAT GOBLINS, DEAL WITH THAT BS, GET LICENSE, ENTER CORMYR, GO TO STORE, BUY CLASS APPROPIATE BASIC GEAR, FINALLY.
