My computer died today and I went out and bought a new one but it's not getting a signal. I have to have someone come and look at it cuz I am tech challenged.

What do you mean not getting a signal? It boots up okay? Is your pc plugged directly into an ethernet cable or is it on wifi?

It is on my wifi. I unplugged the ethernet cable from my old computer and plugged it into the new one. I have power to the computer and the monitor, but I can't get to a desktop. Just a black screen that flashes no signal when I turn it on.

First step might be to just make sure the cable is plugged in solidly to both your computer and your monitor.

Yeah the monitor isn't getting the signal from your computer so the cable is probably loose. Plug it all the way in and tighten the little screws.

And make sure that the video cable is plugged in to the proper port. If this is a computer with a video card, the input lead should connected to the card's slot. If it only has an integrated chipset, then it should be plugged into the motherboard. If you're using a television for a monitor, you should also check that it's on the proper input channel. (On most modern TVs, the remote has an 'input' button that cycles through VGA, HDMI 1/2/X, cable, and so on.

Thanks for all the advise. I'm online now. Just have to reinstall everything. Problem was Geek Squad told me I could connect the monitor with the HDMI ports. Turned out I needed to use the DPI ones.

I had a similar problem last time I replaced my PC, but it was almost certainly a PEBCAK* error. I had it going from the DVI output (previous computer didn't have HDMI) but when I tried changing to HDMI the display went "no signal" after the BIOS screen. I think I ended up connecting both, then going into the Nvidia utility to tell it to use HDMI. *PEBCAK - Problem Exists Between Chair And Keyboard

New comp is running fine and a lot faster than my old one. One slight annoyance that only happens on FRC is that the screen flickers every time I click the mouse. It's the same wireless mouse I used on my old comp, Any ideas?

Geek squad definitely is a scam. Basically like the kids at Autozone or O'Rielly that don't know squat about cars.

If you have an old mouse plug it in and see if it does the same thing.

OK, my slight annoying problem with my mouse has gotten worse. It used to just flicker the screen every time I clicked, but now besides the flicker, I get a hesitation of movement. It sometimes takes as long as a couple of seconds to react. This could be disastrous in a combat situation. This is a new Gaming computer that came assembled at Best Buy. It has nvidia drivers that I just updated. Any suggestions? Don't ask me any hard technical questions because you may hear crickets.

Try rolling back the driver updates?

Did you try another mouse to make sure its the computer and not the mouse?
Also, if it's a laptop, make sure that the game is working with the Nvidia card. I had some silly graphics stuff happen with my laptops cause they were using the basic intel graphics.

It's a desktop and I've tried a wireless and a wired mouse with the same results. It happens with all NWN servers except EE, and its fine with any other program,

NWN EE is a completely different game from NWN. I would start a single player game in NWN, verify that it does the same thing. The only mouse option in NWN is the mouse wheel sensitivity, so there is no setting you changed to cause the problem. I would suggest completely reinstalling NWN. This seems to be a problem with the game, not the mouse.

In your NWN.INI file, there's a setting called "Enable HardwareMouse" which can be either a 0 or a 1. Try changing that setting and restart the game to see if that helps.

I had similar issues with my mouse on both my laptop and tower when playing the game. For myself tweaks to mouse performance didn't work but what is work was to turn of all game mode features. This is a Microsoft update automatically installed that you may not even be aware is operating. Open settings go to gaming. On the right hand side will be a bunch of tabs. What I did was go through each of the tabs and turn off the various game mode settings. Try that and see if that helps your mouse issues.

Turned out it was another unwanted Windows update. I reverted to the previous version of Windows and it's fine now. (Until the next update)

Well my game has been going steadily downhill for awhile now. What ever was wrong with the graphics did not improve, even uninstalling windows updates or setting graphics to the lowest levels. My movements were choppy and in battle, I could hardly follow my movements or target anything. So, yesterday I decided to uninstall NWN and reinstall it. I used the original disks and cd keys. The game seemed to install properly, but when I click PLAY, I get the dark window with the NWN logo, then it goes back to the desktop. So now I am out of the game until I can figure it out or we switch to EE. All other games work fine, including NWN EE.

Running in Compatibility Mode and as Administrator?

Running in Compatibility Mode and as Administrator? Yes. I tried it again and got this message when i tried to open the game. While attempting to configure the game settings, the Config Utility made the following observations that may affect how well Neverwinter Nights works on your system. If the Config Utility reported something incorrectly, please ignore it and change whatever recommendations it made in the options window. Review the system specifications on the game box for more information.
NOTE: Neverwinter Nights may run well in spite of the reported observations. If you have problems, please refer to the Infogrames Support Website at www.ina-support.com or the Neverwinter Nights Community Website at nwn.bioware.com/support for the latest known issues and additional information.
The system does not meet the minimum processor speed requirements. You will most likely have performance problems running the game, which can be reduced by lowering detail settings in the nwconfig program.
This system's video card does not appear to meet the minimum RAM requirements to play Neverwinter Nights. You will most likely encounter problems trying to play the game.
Now I can't uninstall it or install it because i get this message. An intallation support file could not be installed. Catastrophic failure

Have you tried uninstalling your graphic card driver software, cleaning system in safe mode, and than reinstall? Sometimes driver can download and only partially install. Uninstalling completely and than reinstalling can help.
