Please go ahead and download 2.6.4 as we'll be updating to that version of cep as early as this upcoming weekend.
It should be backward compatible with 2.6.3 (what FRC runs currently) & will fix some of the lingering chair issues.

For those looking to update to CEP 2.6.5 (as with the newest announcement for the move to 2.65) you can find the various download links at neverwintervault.org/cep alternatively you can click on one of the two direct links to download either the full install 7zip file or the smaller update (for those that had already updated to 2.64) for 2.64 to 2.65 7zip file from one of the below links. CEP 2.65 7zip full download (962.92 Mbytes)CEP 2.65 update from CEP 2.64 (63.29 MB)I've had less issues with full updates in the past with regards to corrupt installs but both should work, in the case of both make sure you override all files asking to be overridden with the updated files. I downloaded the full 2.64 link (the first one) and there's one corrupted file in it. Does someone have the uncorrupted version?
It's the al_pl_bazarwalla.wav file in the ambient folder.

I downloaded the full 2.64 link (the first one) and there's one corrupted file in it. Does someone have the uncorrupted version? It's the al_pl_bazarwalla.wav file in the ambient folder. I'd suggest downloading it again if you're still having issues with it or try a different zip utility to extract it with as the Neverwinter Vault is the official site to download CEP from and it unpacks correctly for myself alongside Elvisnation so if there is corruption it is likely something that happened during the download process or is some incompatibility with your preferred utility as far as I'm aware. That said al_pl_bazarwalla.wav isn't an important file, it's only an update to one of the default buggy sound files iircly and it hasn't changed since the 2.63 (I'm not even sure it's changed since CEP 2.4 to be honest) release so you could get away not overriding that one file (or reacquiring it from the 2.63 archive if you still have it). FM.

Definitely try downloading again & if the file has the same (broken) checksum as before, please report it in the comments there, so they can fix it.

Because cep 2.6.5 has just been released, we're going to push back the upgrade until later this week. Please go ahead and download 2.6.5 instead of 2.6.4! All files found: neverwintervault.org/cep

2.6.4 fixes chairs
2.6.5 has more placeables and I think some cloak fixes?
If you look at the cep page, those devs have their own changelist of all the things.

I've updated the second post with the direct links for CEP 2.65 with regards to the new announcement. I'd appreciate it if someone could edit the title of the thread to reflect the new change as well. As for what is in CEP 2.65 over 2.64 there are some robe based fixes that were introduced by mistake that are taken care of and a number of placables from these that are made available. Beyond the chair fixes in 2.64 there were a few other placable fixes and I think a number of other small armour related fixes hidden about the place that I don't recall off hand (I think some of them were fixes to the numerous invisible parts to scroll through when crafting armours in the past) Rainy Day PuddlesPHoD African boxPHoD Aegypara (Egypt like placables)FM.

Of course, I can read changelog. I even can looking for sources and analyse code, but my proposition to introduce changelog by DM team has some different targets as just to know. For short period DM team is introduced 2 updates of CEP (critical components). I think, if you will introduce migration to 2.6.6 before migration to 2.6.5 is finished, it will be mess. All members of community are very different. For somebody it is easy to maintain his system, but for somebody it is difficult or even require help from outside. If 2.6.5 do not fix any significant issues and do not add any very important functionality, it is better to finish migration to 2.6.4 and skip or postpone 2.6.5. If update to 2.6.5 is really important, it is better to introduce how important this update is. PS: if you found, that new CEP version is enough good and stable, you should recommend it for test, but do not force community to migrate to every new release. You realize that they test this stuff internally right?

When extracting the new hak files into the hak folder, not all the new files were transitioning over. Haven't had this issue before. Don't know if it's the download that is buggered, or the extraction program (zip).
Either way it's an advisory/heads up. I got around it so I'm fine.

Maybe I'm wrong, but it looks like there is small regression in compare to 2.6.4. I have to use !fix command more often. If you're making use of Nvidia drivers, update them to at least 390.77 (that's the version number that Nvidia fixed their drivers back up to NWN 1.69) to fix the graphics issue causing robes/cloaks/other armour parts not to render. This has nothing to do with CEP. FM.

I dont think its accurate however to say that CEP is not involved, because my rig did not change save for moving from CRap 2.63 to 2.65. Either way, the latest driver release restored functionality.

I was dreading this. For the simple fact that I am useless with Windows 10. I downloaded this game (again after many years of disc use and updates on my old rig) from GOG. I cannot seem to find the neverwinter files on my hard drive (is that because its from GOG???) or the CEP file that should be within to put the new HAK files in. Anyone out there use windows 10 and can give me a dummies step by step guide?
Update: Found the folder it was in the GOG>Games section. Downloading the zip files now. Can someone remind me do I delete all the existing HAKs and then copy the new ones in or will the new ones just override?

Just extract the new 7z in your main nwn directory and it should put hak and tlk files in the right place. No need to delete previous ones.

Don't need to delete anything.

You found Neverwinter directory - and and its subdirectories - you have gotten that far you can do it.
(i use the search function look for NWMAIN.exe -- that will let you know where the computer has stored the files)
Rather the unzip to the NWN directory - create a new folder - call cep265 (or similar) - put the zip file in there - and go unzip here - - that folder will contain the files you need to manually install and a readme on how to do it. Copy the files in the erg folder in the cep265 folder to the erg folder into the neverwinternights (overwrite if promted) do the same for the other folders. (which is as per the readme instructions). Thats it.
Unzipping directly into the Neverwinter nights directory may have missed a file overwrite (but that is sheer guesswork) - but the above does work -its how i did it.
If you have any questions please post. And Yes _ Playing with the innards is daunting.
Also if you are going to fix the innards it is generally a good idea to find folder options ( i am sorry i cant tell you where that is in windows 10 - - and find the check box where it says hide file extensions [ie the .exe etc - - it is better to see those] and also see hidden and system files.
And while i am there - - have you set the hosts file gamespay and nwn servers to zero to eliminate the hang time while those time out (that is also playing with the innards)

downloaded the full one and says im missing a file.. and will not work.. Some times the file doesn't extract correctly. The same thing happened to me. It was cep2_top_2_65.hak When you log on to FRC it will tell you what is missing. Re-extract these files and place them in the appropriate folder. That should solve your issue.

I always face the update of CEP with a certain amount of trepidation since it happens rarely and I have to relearn each time how to do it successfully. The method I use (which is probably not the best but for me is the most clear cut and successful) is thus...
1.) download the compressed file.
2.) Place the compressed file on my desktop and choose to extract files to my desktop (this places each folder on my desktop so that as I move files I can drag each empty file to the trash, knowing I have transferred those CEP files.)
3.) Open up my NWN nights folder from the C: drive (or wherever it is on your computer). Once open, you will see each folder and file that makes up NWN listed in front of you.
4.) Resize the window showing all my NWN files so that it is on one side of my screen, and the destkop with my CEP files is visible on the other side of my screen.
5.) Open each folder of the same name so that the contents of the folder are visible. For example, I will open the freshly downloaded HAK folder on my desktop and the HAK folder in my NWN nights directory.
6.) Shift click to select every file from the new CEP folder (for example HAK) and physically drag them to the open folder in my NWN directory (for example HAK). When I receive the message saying there are files of the same name and asking me what to do, I simply choose the option to replace all files of the same name.
Doing this for each folder I successfully updated my CEP. I noticed that if I simply dragged the folder itself into the appropriate place in my NWN directory then the computer actually placed a new folder in the folder of the same name, and the game would not realize the files were in the secondary folder. Thus why I open both folders and physically drag the contents from one to the next so that the game can see the files.
If this helped even a single person then I'm happy.

Dragging a folder to another folder places the whole thing inside the target location; you would need to drag it to the next higher folder in the hierarchy. I.E., just drag all the CEP folders onto the NWN folder itself. Another tip, which people may or may not find useful... in Windows, if you drag with the Right mouse button instead of the Left, you'll get an option menu letting you choose whether to Move or Copy the files.

To elaborate for clarity for those whom need it broken down when you download and extract the CEP archive, go into the CEP folder and copy all the contents of that folder into your NWN directory (x/x/neverwinter nights). So don't copy the "CEP" folder, copy the folders inside it such as "hak, override, dm" etc. Also, for those whom the vault hates their internet such as me and get slow download speeds, you can just download the smaller patches instead of the full 2.65. I was on 63 still, and just downloaded the two patches to update. Heres where EE will be great. Steam released workshop, so it autodownloads anything youre subscribed to!
