From the mouth of babes, I thought. Gala has been insightful perhaps with out even realizing it still I did thank him. Obligations of course. So, if a lich could bind his soul or life-force to a phylactery could not other items exist charged with life essence? From such items the latent mana could be harvested at least in theory. Harvested and sequentially transferred to another vessel. Arcane engines could be then drawn upon at my leisure for another purpose, my purpose. After all I utilized abet simplistically the same principle to drive my creation. Placing a small portion of my essence with in the vessel to animate the creature. My studied to hone this process had lead me to Crows’ seminal work. The passage had been true after all!
Even in dross from wood and metal born doth lay a strength well hidden. Thy eyes may not bear witness but as the wind that blows unseen so dwells majiks , most secret. Be cunning in thy craft for blessed are the Four. Drop by drop thy vessel wrought of stone and gem be filled or’flowing. Servants Four shall guard thee well to cast aside thy enemies’ ill intents. As the seas doth break upon rocks jagged the Four so shall thy foemen’s blade break asunder upon yea.
Not merely metaphorical musings to describe the spirits of the inanimate. To be sure in the vast majority of objects such energies were weak to the point of being insubstantial Yet more than a few items were notable in the historical annuals. Gromph Baenre in his treatise Sarol Del Lil Ilythiira made reference to Khazid'hea a blade who had achieved sentience. I initially had ascribed such a phenomenon to entrapment of another within the blade. However, a myriad of alternative methods to such an end seemed to exist. Baenre documented that the blade Khazid'hea processed such noted attributes in the blade after its exposure to the Faerzress. Of course, the text was a translation and not the original and as consequence could not be fully trusted. The pertinent point was that such energies could exist in tangible objects. It was not just artistic license. Energies that could be tapped channeled and focused. The legend of the Four was true!
Thanks to Galactor Bobby69989 for the in-game conversations that lead up to this

With a trepidations touch I flipped over the page of the ancient tome. Crow’s meandering style was finally making sense. Strong be thine gift and wise are thee in the ways of the craft. Know yea well the essence and its myght. For all of creation doth possess the powers hidden from mortal eye. Unseen magiks will yea gather. To this end yea must journey to the realms where the sun shineth not. O black and heavy are the very airs where the stones doth drink light fair. In this realm of eternal night where wytch-fires prance and leap ‘ver stones grim upon which the wurms doth creep is where yea must journey. Strange be the earth deep in which ‘ver dwell in shadow. These lands where the fallen doth tread. Seek the Ilythiir in their citadels of hewn black stone. Great and terrible are their works and wicked are their ways. But none doth live who possess the skill of essence that the fallen doth command. What secrets doth dwell hidden in somber stone? What tales of earth old could but whispered b? O’ Guardian grim ever standing in a chamber hidden, there a heart of steel dwells. With a long practiced touch I skipped ahead to another often read section. For it is said the measure of any warrior true be his skill and daring wield steel flashing bright. Yet no less is the steel unseen. While the tides of battle ebb and flow the true metal doth dwell in hand and heart. The wise measure any warrior by both metal seen and unseen. Long is the smith upon the forge with each blow ringing his mark is left. Yet long is the memory of any sword. For metal recalls every blow e’rr struck. Seek yea then a sword who hath deeply its fill, fed well on blood and vengeance black. For with each drop shed upon the sands shall the blades might grow. Step by step, it had taken awhile to decipher Crow’s process but I was sure I had the gist of everything now. Even in dross from wood and metal born doth lay a strength well hidden. Thy eyes may not bear witness but as the wind that blows unseen so dwells majiks , most secret. Be cunning in thy craft for blessed are the four. Drop by drop thy vessel wrought of stone and gem be filled or'flowing. Servants Four shall guard thee well to cast aside thy enemies' ill intents. As the seas doth break upon rocks jagged the Four so shall thy foemen's blade break asunder upon yea.Crow was nothing if not meticulous, well save perhaps verbose. The method for constructing the talisman, the Four was laid out in exacting and explicit detail. I personally lacked sufficient skill and equipment for fashioning anything with such intricate detail. There was fortunately one that I knew who could, Eledar Tir’elwilie. Coincidence, hardly there are seldom such a thing but I will settle for good fortune. Eledar Tir’elwilie often frequented the village and had a well-deserved reputation as an exceptional elven craftsman. Standoffish and aloof, even for an elf, Eledar Tir’elwilie had truly a god-granted gift for working with metals. Also Eledar Tir’elwilie unlike many had a more laissez faire attitude for certain practices of the craft. Eledar Tir’elwilie was never a kindred spirit; however we were always cordial and the concepts and challenges of the Four I knew both intrigued and fascinated him. What he managed to fashion was beyond my wildest expectations. His work without doubt must have represented the pinnacle of his ability. Still doubts remained, as they always do. Kai had expressed several. She voiced a concern that the Drow would know what I was doing, even being able to sense my stolen a fragment of the fabled Faerzess and that I had spirited it away to the surface. As a consequence there would now exist some imaginary peril to everyone transpiring from my efforts. My effort, Ha! Such an effort would be akin to stealing a cup of water from the ocean. Notice, I think not. Still even Arician had expressed his concerns. Mild mannered Arician even had gone so far as to cloak himself in glamour, his eyes aflame with righteous fury. Rather impressive display actually. It was a side to Arician that few I expect had ever witnessed let alone felt. I had spent several anxious moments assuring him that all I desired was a simple sword. A sword infused with the faerzess. Mollified by my explanations Arician returned to his more placid self. For me these discussions had done the complete opposite, merely steeled my resolve to continue on. I was more convinced than ever before that I was on the cusp of something truly amazing! All these conversations had done nothing but ignite my mind with a multitude of what-ifs. What if; two simple words, what and if. Exactly that what if? I let the words leisurely play around in my mouth slipping out to my delight of the exact implications of the words. This smallest of phrases was never far from my mind now. What, my mind spinning with all the ramifications, if. The plan was simply enough, venture to a known citadel on the edge of the UnderDark murder who ever we found and return with one of the faerzess infused swords carefully sealed away in a light-tight metal box. The weapon would and should power the talisman for a period of time then in the due course of time exhaust itself. Such a fate was to be expected, at least by me. Others had a different view. Others warned of the perilous dangers in even attempting this. That I would be stealing a piece of the faerzess . They might even be correct. What was of true importance was that if they were right then the faerzess would be continually connected to the weapon. Imaginary dangers aside, that part was absolutely irrelevant, what was relevant was the connection. My word! Quite simply that power would gift me with a continual source of energy one that I could leech away indefinitely. Furthermore the casting would never unravel save if cut off from all magic and perhaps not even then. It would last indefinitely as well. There would be one moment hmm midnight most likely when the spell would need to be recharged but apart from that unlimited duration. The talismans strength would be unmatched, a device of legends; the Four. A big thank you to both hellscrea123 and offduty for graciously allowing me to incorporate elementals of in-game conversations in this story. Also to DM Hawk for putting up with my machinations.

A notice has been posted at the Griffon inn in Great Gaunt and at the Tispy Imp in Valkur. Enquirer's of the keeps would reveal that a striking platinum blonde woman dress in blue going by the name of Vana posted the messages and paid each a small stipend to pass along information of any interested parties to her. I am planning a trek to the UnderDark. The adventure will be spread out over two days. It will begin November 3rd at 8:00 PM (Mountain Standard time) and on November 4th starting at 7:00 PM (Mountain Standard time). This will tie into events hinted at in-game and on the forum. So if your interested be happy to have you on board.
