...casts its shadow over the land, and reaches into the very heart of Suzail.
Joram Brightsby dons his deep red cloak before closing and locking the door to his room at the Wailing Wheel Inn. He heads down the stairs and hands the key to the innkeeper before heading outside into the rainy day. His sabatons leaves heavy but hurried footsteps on the paved marketplace as he is determined in his quest, making his way past the merchants who are busy setting up their shops for the day, cursing the weather.
Joram pay them little attention as his brows are furrowed and his thoughts conflicted and debating with themselves, as he tries to figure out how to formulate himself in the coming meeting.
Finally he arrives at his destination and refuge from the heavy downpour, the temple of The Red Knight in the northern streets of Suzail. He clutches the red lanceboard piece that makes out the adornment of his necklace, as he opens the door and closes it after him before heading to the clergy, greeting them formally before gathering them in the quiet meeting room upstairs, after informing them that he has some disturbing news for them.
“I come to you today to inform you of a disturbing finding I’ve made deep in the swamps north of Greatgaunt, I bring this information here before going to the authorities as I need guidance. Last week I was misled into assisting a woman who claimed to be haunted by nightmares that lead her into the swamp. Together with a priestess of Mystra called Phaedria we guided the woman deep into the swamp, guided by her memories of the nightmare. We got deep into the swamp along an untraveled path, and what met us what quite the sight. An enormous black crystal tower that went into the clouds above us. It stood proudly in waist-deep swamp water and had an eerie green glow and an obvious magical aura.
Once our awe had subsided we saw three hooded and armored people were waiting for us, or rather the woman that had been deceiving us, simply using us to get her safely through the swamps to the meeting point of these people.
I will try to describe them to the best of my ability as I believe they are significant. One of them was a human in robes, seemingly possessing magical abilities as I saw no weapons on him. The other was a grim Dwarf with a massive red-glowing greatsword, he was carrying some kind of trinket that the woman seemed to recognize, or was looking for. The last person was a man in heavy armor carrying the symbol of Kossuth. They were unfriendly towards Phaedria and me, and shortly after we had arrived the four of them left together. Phaedria and I decided to stand back as we were outnumbered and honestly not prepared for what we saw, we came to ease the mind of a haunted woman.
We decided to investigate the area and found old ruins that hinted of a former settlement in the location. The most distinct findings was a colossal statue of a head, a statue with wings and a temple of Talona. With the state of the area and the way the area around the tower was rotten, disease-ridden and dying it could be related to Talona worship, but I did not fully understand the magic of the tower to make such conclusions.
I think we should investigate further or involve the War Wizards due to the strong magical aura and the Talona ties. What do you think of it? I beseech the high clergy to guide me in these trying times, as I may have abetted chaos by letting myself be deceived."
