The short sandy haired court clerk grumbled as she searched the archived case cabinets in the Suzail Courthouse a third time, recalling the humorless magistrate's words that brought her to this task all too clearly, "Clerk Sands, I need you to gather what you can on an older incident. We've had new information come to light and we want to cross check it." Which of course was followed up by "Oh, and we really need it by tomorrow .. court deadlines and all you know?"
She meticulously checked each satchel, bundle of parchment and large box again, her irritation and growing disquiet briefly subsumed by her professional focus on the task at hand. An hour later she rubbed her eyes yet again and studied the cabinets resignedly. She'd gone through it all extremely thoroughly & there was nothing else for it. She'd have to report the materials on the case missing and hope it wouldn't all come out of her pay ..
