It had been a crazy few weeks. The ring she had grown so accustomed to wearing around her neck on the thin gold chain was now back on her finger. The man she had loved so deeply and for so long, her fiance, Tamer, had returned to her. She had though he was dead, that she would never see his beautiful face again, never again be able to speak to him, to hear that deep rumbling laugh, those blue eyes that sparkled when he looked down to her. She thought she would never again feel the warmth of his skin, his rough calloused fingers brush so gently across her skin she could swear it came from the brush of a butterfly, and not the caress of a man as large as he.
Yet here he was. Flesh and blood, warmth and love. He had searched for her, tracked her, followed her this entire way. The months she had been hiding, bouncing from village to village, hiding from those that sought to not only end her life but prolong the agony they sought to inflict upon her first, he had been searching for her as well. She had managed to mostly avoid the bandits thus far, though, they were close now, and somehow, Tamer had found her. She thought her heart might explode from the happiness that overwhelmed her every time she thought about it. Every time she laid eyes on him. She watched him rest in reverie, for hours. She was afraid still yet that he might disappear. She wouldn’t leave his side for anything the first two weeks, though, they’d not left the inn in that time anyways. The blush stole up her cheeks just thinking about it.
She continued along the road, lost in thoughts. He had finally convinced her they both needed time to hunt, to keep their skills honed. He would be there when she returned that evening. There were things she still needed to tell him. So much had happened since she had fled their village. They had time though now. Something she hadn’t thought she would be afforded. And so for now, she walked the path, to hunt first, and then she would find her way back to him this night. Her pace quickened and a smile spread across her face.
She had agreed to meet Laxus for a hunt, and saw him waiting near the edge of the forest ahead. She lifted her hand in a wave. She greeted him warmly as always, and casted some defensive spells over them before they moved deeper into the woods. She talked animatedly, her blue eyes brighter than normal, they twinkled in the pale green light that filtered through the tree boughs above.
The light turned darker the further they went, and she felt the hair raise on the back of her neck. She shook it off, glancing to Laxus. She followed along, raising her bow, watching for her shot.
