In the hours following the summons by High Inquisitor Vera Gudwerks, a new fixture posts itself along the outer walls of Valkur's Roar; the Lathanderite priest known as Ivae stands alongside the usual guardsmen, casting an extremely visible magical light around himself as a matter of course. He pesters anyone who would enter or leave the city, insisting that they allow inspection for traces of the alleged animal fever epidemic; or at least to allow him casting the spell 'remove disease' upon them. He takes to this boring position well, often reading or gazing at the sky between travelers, sometimes making idle chat with the guards. He only leaves to rest when out of the spell to grant, or pushed to the limits of his personal fortitude.

Twenty hours a day, Ivae watches over the entrance to Valkur's Roar, getting to know some of the rotating guards who have shifts there. Though occasionally mind numbingly bored, he creates a few dozen wooden figurines through a long process of whittling, and finds time to chat up the travelers as he inspects them for symptoms. Though the hours or long, he rarely gives it up, only leaving at the behest of close friends, for ventures and duties that last no longer than a day at a time.

This comes to an abrupt stop; the official reason given is that "I am currently a liability to Valkur's Roar, likely to draw danger in her direction. I am acting within Greatgaunt for the time being, where I can be reached if the epidemic here needs more help in its containment".
