Being a prc class it was probably not mentioned in the monk section but is it an allowable multiclass? I vaguely recall something about the allowable classes for each order typically allowing all prc as long as the tenants meet with the order (alignment, etc) but for the life of me can not find where it says that in a source book.
as a second question, are monk's that take a class that is outside their allowed order are simply removed from the order, retain all powers and abilities but are just not able to take any further monk lvls?

Being a prc class it was probably not mentioned in the monk section but is it an allowable multiclass? I vaguely recall something about the allowable classes for each order typically allowing all prc as long as the tenants meet with the order (alignment, etc) but for the life of me can not find where it says that in a source book. You remember incorrectly. Monks that are not part of a monk order may not multi-class. If they multi-class on FRC they may no longer progress as monks. Monks on FRC that are part of an order and multiclass outside of their multi-class restrictions may no longer progress as monks. Allowed prestige classes are listed in the descriptions of the orders. If it isn't listed, it isn't an allowed multiclass option for the order. No monk orders allow the arcane archer prestige class as a multi-class option. Sun Soul Order allows multi-classing as any one other class, including a prestige class, as long as monk is the highest class. However, that doesn't work for arcane archer since it requires the ability to cast arcane spells to enter the prestige class, so requires the accompaniment of a caster class. Monk Orders for FRC: Lore of the Lands: Monk Order Informationas a second question, are monk's that take a class that is outside their allowed order are simply removed from the order, retain all powers and abilities but are just not able to take any further monk lvls? This is correct. If a monk multi-classes outside of their allowed order, they retain all their existing monk abilities but they are now ex-monks and may no longer progress as monks. If you are playing a monk that is multi-classing out of a monk order (ie becoming an ex-monk), please contact the DM Team so your monk level may be noted at that time.
