*Posters are hung at every gate, in Talbots and the Tipsey Imp, on the Doors of all merchants and the bank and hung on the doors of the temple.* OOC: Text of the poster in case the image doesn't work for you. Baron Azorus Crownsilver and the Council of Valkur's Roar announce that they are now accepting applications for candidates to fill the position of High Priest of Valkur's Roar. All applicants will be approved by the Baron and his council by public vote. Being ten sitting council members a tie will be broken by the Baron and the Baron who reserves the right to veto any candidate he chooses. All applicants will present themselves before the Council of Nobles and give a prepared statement. Then the candidates will be questioned by members of the council after which anyone who wishes to make very brief statements in support of or in opposition to a candidate will be heard before the council.
The position of High Priest will later be filled by the Baron and his Council in a public vote after all approved candidates has been given an equal amount of time to campaign for the good will of the people. There will be future announcements as to the exact time of the Applicant Review meeting.
To apply simply put your name, your faith, and short list of reasons why you would be a good choice and submit these to Administrator Frimgarold at the Great Hall. OOC: You can PM these to DM McGuffin or you can use the in game letter creation system and deliver these to Frimgarold when I make announcements about him collecting them or when I make announcements that the Valkur’s Roar NPC’s are available for interaction. The best way to describe this is a PVP role play contest. There are ten votes. Some are set in stone and cannot be changed by player actions. Others can be influenced or corrupted in to voting as you tell them. Will the evil triumph and corruption take foot hold or will good PC's be able to expose to the light of day the corrupt deeds of the few and thwart evils advance? This is the first round of the contest. Whichever group wins will be given a voice on the Council of Nobles and advantage over the next contests. Even if your group does not win you will be taking part in shaping the future of Valkur’s Roar. All players regardless of level or class can participate. I suggest the following links for your review. Baron Azours Crownsilver's Speech OOC: Public Anoncements

Bethlen very obviously and without even remotely trying to hide that it's him begins to hang posters near the previous posters. It simply has the dogma of Lovitar written on it.
He often waves over passerbys to help him hang the posters up.
If he ever sees Zoe walk by he gives her a friendly wave and two big thumbs up with a broad smile, while indicating the posters with a nod. Usually a wink as well.

Tavern talk and things heard around town.
*People talk about the impressive oration Bozworth Skatterhawk gave at the funereal of an old man who died of natural causes.*
*People talk about Coup Copperhand visiting various merchants around Valkur's Roar and handing out small gold plated Waukeenar Coins to any that stand around and listen to his stump speech. Small crowds gather everywhere he speaks.*
*People talk about how Gale Josseltruss offers prayers of absolution from the wrath of Umberlee to various ships setting sail out of Valkur's Roar. Including a moving prayer and speech over the crew of a ship that limped to port with damage from a Pirate raid.*
*People talk about how beautiful and friendly Kiki is. A few are very adamant about how she is the best choice saying she will help make Valkur's Roar beautiful and flourish like Suzail. Others confront these supporters and point out how she has some questionable friends and how she stormed the High Wizard's tower blowing her door off with a fireball!*
*People talk about how strange it is that they agree with Zodika and maybe she is right? All the suffering and hardships of Valkur's Roar past has made it a stronger, better place. Other decry these supporters sighting the deeds of various members of the faith and how bad they are. When these people talk about the misdeeds of past Lovitarian's the supports say Zodika is different. She even helped free that Guard Wizard who was taken and tortured by Thayans. Some talk about the false representation of the faith and how she is setting the record straight. Anti-Lovitarians wave the posters of doctrine and call the supporters names. The guards of the city quickly disperse the crowd before they could get unruly.*
*Others talk about this Mysterious Humble Servant and how if the faiths would just stop arguing and work together everyone would have a nice place to pray how they see fit.*

Through the throng of gatherers, a young boy with full hands darted across the square stopping at his intended destination.
“That was quick, lad.” Ranan reached down taking his now filled flask from the panting boy. “Aye…. Sir…. ya did ask me to be quick about it.” The boy uttered words while trying to catch his breath.
Standing at the edge of the crowd, he opened the flask taking a slow and deliberate swig while observing the swarm around one of the candidates campaigning for High Priest. The boy about thirteen or so winters, stood at near attention by his side, his breathing slowly returning to normal. Ranan patted his shoulder reassuringly and whispered to him: “Lad, which one is that?”
“Tha’ be Coup Copperhand, Sir.”
Ranan corked the flask and nodded to the boy never taking his eyes off the gathering. There was as much to learn from observing the people and their reactions as could be gained from listening to the Priest. Some in the crowd noticed Ranan, meeting his watchful eyes with small nods, quiet greetings and the occasional smile. Of course there were also those ignorant few who recognized the former Captain and discreetly moved away so as not to be anywhere near the man. As the crowd became bored and dispersed an elderly woman now seeing Ranan, didn’t hesitate and hobbled over to him with wide eyes and grinning ear to ear.
”By the light of a new day, it does wonders to an old woman’s weary eyes for such a sight, Captain Hallomein, appearing once again within the city walls! Ye haven’t been seen around our city for far too long!”
Smiling warmly in return, the blue of his eyes sparkling, Ranan turned on the charm and spoke a little louder than normal drawing the curious eyes of those around them in the square. He took the old woman’s weathered hands in his own, holding them with compassion as he returned the greeting. ”Tis good to see the great people of this city once again, my lady. Your welcome warms the heart. The young boy here to my side is Conner, a fellow resident of Valkur’s and an eager student of mine.”
“Ooohhh… well he’ll do just fine if he follows your lessons Mr. Hallomein!” She cackled glancing at the boy. She got closer and leaned into Ranan, lowering her voice some… ”Say now, you wouldn’t be here to place your name on the list for High Priest now would you… you can trust an old woman to keep a secret!”
Ranan grinned a bit and paused dramatically before shaking his head no.
”Disappointing. Well perhaps you are back to instill some order in the town!?!? Since you took care of those Scarlet Guards, there be buildings exploding, Lords’ homes and warehouses broken into, attacks on people passing through the city, more bodies than I can count found in the waters near the docks… you name it, it’s happened and it keeps happening! What do these town guards do!?!?! I stay in my home, tend to my farm and do my best never to be walking about at night! Your Guardsmen never let those things happen!
“My lady, might I suggest you speak to the new Lord of the City about the lack of order?”
The old woman huffed and sighed deeply, muttering to herself but then just as quickly dismissed it all. Her eyes lit up excitedly and she placed her hands on Ranan’s arms drawing him into what she was about to say.”You know Captain, seems to me those of us in this city owe you something for what ya done. And you know… I do have one daughter not married off… “
With a crooked finger the woman motioned, Ranan’s eyes followed landing on a homely girl that Sune likely forgot. The girl seemed to cower under his gaze, she stood there meekly and timid offering a hesitant smile. Almost as if she could sense the cringe in Ranan’s spine, the old woman quickly chimed in… ”She aint the prettiest flower there be, but she’s got a strong back, can cook and I suspect she’ll deliver ya many sons.”
Ranan smiled at them both each in turn. ”You flatter me with such gifts, yet I think such treasure should be reserved for a more deserving man. Should you find her a more appropriate suitor, my lady, I shall oversee the union myself as a thank you to your family for such an offer. Or perhaps I can find a suitable match for her, hm. I trust you understand. For now though I must depart as there is much to do since arriving. A good day to you.”
Ranan turned and hurriedly walked off, the young boy following. As they gained some distance, he whispered: ”Go see what the other candidates are up to and report back. Ensure you blend into the crowds.”
“Aye Captain.”
“When your done we can work a bit on your swordmanship.”
Conner ran off quickly as Ranan headed toward the Great Hall.

THE DOGMA OF A SADIST
Loviatar's Dogma
The world is filled with pain and torment, and the best that one can do is to suffer those blows that cannot be avoided and deal as much pain back to those who offend. Kindnesses are the best companions to hurts, and increase the intensity of suffering. Let mercy of sudden abstinence from causing pain and of providing unlooked-for healing come over you seldom, but at whim, so as to make folk hope and increase the Mystery of Loviatar's Mercy. Unswerving cruelty will turn all folk against you.
Act alluring, and give pain and torment to those who enjoy it as well as to those who deserve it most or would be most hurt by it. The lash, fire, and cold are the three pains that never fail the devout. Spread Loviatar's teachings whenever punishment is meted out. Pain tests all, but gives strength of spirit and true pleasure to the hardy and the true. There is no true punishment if the punisher knows no discpline. Wherever a whip is there is a Loviatar. Fear her -- and yet long for her.
What Is A God's Dogma?
A dogma is the basic tenants of a faith. The basic teachings and lessons that must be adhered to and embraced by the faithful, and especially the clergy of said faith. You do not pick and chose what parts of the dogma you value, and throw the rest to the wind. A god's dogma is the core of what the god is, and what they want their faithful to be.

*Word quickly spreads that Gale Josseltruss has been patrolling the docks and casting healing magics on any sailors who may or may not be plagued ridden. During one of these patrols she performs an impromptu wedding for a sailor. The people talk about how unusually profound and insightful Gale's Wedding vows for the couple where.*
*Coup Copperhand holds a business strategy lecture in which most of the notable merchants in Valkur's attend. He gives tips and tricks for the persuasive business man.*
*Bozworth Skatterhawk denounces the attack on town folks by hired mercenaries. The mercenaries having been hired by some strange Kelemvorian Cult. The Cult and mercenaries laid an ambush to some adventures serving the greater good by clearing undead from the Crypts near Valkur's Roar. Things got out of hand and the mercenaries attacked innocent bystanders. When their leader was slain and they fled in chaos.*

*Keofar is seen having a heated exchange of words with Coup Copperhand over the handing out Waukeenar coins outside the The Baron of Retribution's temple. Coup was also offering for sale healers kits at 70 lions which undercut the Hoar's temple price quite a bit. Koefar bellowed about his price war and Coup sized the moment to point out the the Merchants friend would likely mean lower healing prices for everyone. The small crowd that gathered applauded loudly.*
*Rumors spread that Bozworth Skatterhawk, assistant Gill Pthark, caught Gale Josseltruss sneaking out of a Sea Captains quarters aboard a ship in the wee hours of the morning. She claims she was just give the Captain a blessing of Umberlee called "Dawn's Rides" which must be prayed at sun up on the morning before a ship is to take an exceptionally long voyage. Pthark noted the ship's destination was Suzail and that perhaps that wasn't the long ride she was praying for, pointing out her disheveled appearance. She professed her innocence of the affair saying it was nothing more than a vigorous night prayers. Pthark then commented that she should pray news of this doesn't reach her husband which drew a red face and loud laughter from the sailors gathered. When a rowdy sailor laughed too loudly and too near the Captain; he was promptly punched in the face and he fell over board.*

The mercenary Cassius "<Expletive>" Caldoran creates a couple tableau's on the roads out from Valkur's Roar, a fair distance from the western and southern gates. A great pile of decapitated and impaled orc corpses lay by the roadside; while stripped of anything else of value, there is around 1k of gold placed onto their bodies at each pile, filling their satchels, the holes in their chests, and the occasional empty eye socket. Hastily made wooden signs are staked into the ground in front, reading "Waukeen cares; she protects your trade".
This grisly display is likely to meet a mixed reception; while some may get the intended message, many would be repulsed, and still others would look upon Coop Copperhand with suspicion for receiving apparent help from a Sembian. On the other hand, none can find proof that the two have ever met, leaving a good deal of uncertainty.

*The reclusive banker Truman Truesilver posts a flyer outside the bank in Valkur's Roar. The flyer promotes the deeds the RCMH and expresses support of Firstsword Kori Asen for High Priest of Valkur’s Roar.*
*Rumors spread that Bozzworth Skatterhawk had a testy exchange with his cousin Nate when the priest learned that Nate would be supporting one of the two priests of Tyr.*
*Tavern talk surfaces with the story of a dinner party from last tenday held at the Huntsilver manner. The story is said to have come from servants who worked the party or the brother of a cousin who did. At this party which was thrown in support of Coup Copperhand, one of the dinner guests arrived with Gale Josseltruss as his companion for the evening. During the awkward exchanges of the evening Coup Copperhand is said to have been slapped across the face by Gale Josseltruss after he made a joke about her recent affairs and saying something about her goods being “A little too freely traded.” Gerld Huntsilver, made the entire exchange a bit more awkward with his sole roaring merriment at the embarrassing comment.*
*Keofar gave a thundering and powerful speech to small unimpressed audience in the temple. He pressed a strong case for dogma of Hoar and how it would benefit Valkur’s Roar. In his sermon he mocked the “justice” candidates and pointed out true just comes from extracting your pound of flesh from thy enemies.*

*Keofar is seen outside the temple doing a piss poor job attempting to patch one of the walls before he gives up. Coup Copperhand sizes this opportunity to offer the depths of his coffers to hire stone mason's to repair it. Keofar declines and Copperhand offers him suggestions about the high price of the wares his church sales. Keofar having enough of this turned and went back inside the temple.*

Congratulations,
The Great Hall in Valkur's Roar will be made available, for one night only, to each candidate for the cost of 1000 lions for the purposes of hosing events related to your campaign should you desire to use it.
A letter box has been setup in the Great Hall so that the public can communicate with you. This is similar to the letter boxes setup for each nobleman of the city.
You can come by the Great Hall any time to check on your mail boxes.

*In every tavern and on every street corner in Valkur’s Roar the people bristle with gossip, each telling a similar story with minor embellishments. In the story some unidentified hero or hero’s bash down the door of the Huntsilver’s Manor and slaughter four vile mercenaries that were holding Huntsilver’s wife hostage to force him to vote for Bozworth Skatterhawk. The stories quickly spread to speculate that Gale’s arrest and this are related. Wanted posters for Bozworth are hung in Valkur’s Roar and Bozworth has disappeared.*
Hear ye well!
Let it be known that on the 23rd day of Marpenoth 1377 the Doomguide of Kelemvor Bozworth Skatterhawk is wanted on several charges including, attempting manipulation of election results, kidnapping nobles, disturbing the Baron’s peace.
Wanted Dead or Alive.

A small letter is delivered to the City Hall building.
To those whom it may concern,
I am withdrawing my name from the election for the position of High Priestess of Valkur's Roar. I wish to help this fine city, but will need to find another way to do so. Having seen the horrors of the Sembian war up front, I wish to spend what time I can aiding in the rebuilding of the eastern provinces of Cormyr- trying to help here as well would be unfair to both those rebuilding and the people here. I will hopefully be speaking to the next High Priest(ess) about the plans I considered to enrich the lives of the citizens here. Should any have questions, please address them to the Silver Lady's temple in Immersea if I cannot be reached here.
~Silverstar Kori Asen
(( I'm withdrawing Kori for OOC reasons here, namely that I've tried to get in touch with the DM involved about six or seven times and had all conversations dropped. Rather than make a bigger fuss and demand time, I'm just going to drop Kori out. If a DM could talk to me about appropriate costs for aiding in the repair of war damage to eastern Cormyr, I'd be grateful. ))

An announcement for the exact date and time will be announced to the public very soon, and the council requests that you clear your calendars for the coming days. ~From, The Valkur's Roar Council.
//I would like to run this Saturday Night, Central (Central time). If this is majorly conflicting, or the time needs to be adjusted, please send me a PM. I would like to be able to have all PC candidates present if at all possible.
