The DM team is now in a position to restore characters that you may have exported before the server went down.
Multiple characters can be restored this way. If you did a remake already, you can still have the character restored from the exported file (bic). If you did a remake and have gained dm items since then, we can assist in saving a copy of those items before restoring your bic file.
If you wish to have a character/s restored, please send an email to extropy.frc@gmail.com with the following:
- Account Name that the character/s should be restored to.
- Exported character files (bic) for each character that should be restored. The journal (txt) file is for your computer & need not be sent.
- Do you have any DM Items that need to be extracted from your current character?
note: If you do not have a bic file for your character, we continue to offer remakes with a formulaic amount of xp and gold.

Will these characters be able to be advanced in level once restored, and kept as permanent replacements for the old vault characters? I think people will want to know this.

Yes, these restored characters can be kept as permanent replacements.
In the event of a restore from the old vault, you could keep the restored bic .. or choose to use the old vault version.

I was told to pm DM Hawk about getting my main character back (Gareth Bel) But he doesn't seem to have responded yet. Is there another dm i should speak with or should i wait for him to respond

You should email me at the address provided in the first post: extropy.frc@gmail.com with your bic, if you are wanting to be restored from bic.
If you don't have your bic, then you can pm a dm of your choice about it & give them the name and details.

I have recently thought about playing a bit. I have not played since just after the vault issue, so I have zero pc's in my vault atm.
I have some questions about the availability of this, as well as the possibility of items earned over years of playing. The one PC I would be worried about was level 22 with a few DM items. I received the E-mail and decided to take a peek.
I don't think I have a bic file as the server crashed unexpectedly during a down time of my own, so I hadn't backed up my PC.
While the vault was messed up I had thought to remake my PC as playing without the PC active during the time was not an option due to various plots, but I never got far before some server issues caused me to not want to spend the time if it was going down.
If any DM could respond that'd be great, thank you.

During low server population times I have found that challenging my PC is somewhat deadly.... so I have taken an interest in an older PC of mine who used to be lvl 8. Grush'Nak had few items of worth. +1 great axe Crafted Adamantine full plate Crafted Adamantine Helm +1 tower shield +1 ogre gauntlet (str) And.... sadly his most valuable item was a full stack of 30 healing kits. ( He is terrible at bartering.) Oh, and Hawk at one time had renamed a hunk of meat to "Goblin meat" for me  Is this a possibility? |

I don't have bic files but I would like to remake a few characters I had.
Felican Copperbeard - Level 8ish Cleric of Tempus Dwarven Female use hammer had a magical one but I don't remember what
Quin Quickshot - Level 6ish Rogue - Halfling - Working really hard on becoming a shadow dancer - Bought a +bow from an PC but I can't remember the + probably 1 also had magic bag
James Holland - Level 9ish Fighter - Human - Had just requested to become a black guard Had +2 breastplate I believe... used dual bastard swords or shield sword combo
Jerry Halfwit - Level 7ish Rogue - Halfling - had a ton of scrolls in a scroll case I think and magic items (collected) I can't remember what though I know I had some crazy things up there in level, probably things I should have, I stole some of it... heh...

I do not have a bic file either. I do not remember my other characters name, it has been some 10 years or alittle less ago. I do know my main character was Vole Gwent a Rogue longbow of unlimited fire arrows, wish I could remember more like I said its been so long ago. Another was Tempus barbarian/cleric his special items were boots that make you move fast, and bracers that added another attack per round, also keen great axe. My old user name was r_raider. The only person I can hope verify this is Kolfrosta. That is the only player name I can remember from then. I was around before GreatGaunt was Isinhold and Valkour Roar was Redmist. If that gives an example of the time ago. They were both around lvl 18. These descriptions are just giving details of when I was located in real time. I was just hoping someone could remember my character. If any of the dms would atleast send a pm to acknowledge that they are reviewing this that would be appreciated.

I have been absent for years, and was glad to notice there was still activity here. Of course old characters would have had probably several server wipes away. Never had any epic characters but from low to mid teens. Then again, i was not to hot leveler anyways.
Would this service be still available?
I seem to have at least somewhat recent .bic files of some characters. There was a loss of one DM item wich was rather dear to me, if not that powefull, being a personal steam armour (basically adamantine plate with very weak acid attack daily, but with description and signature). It kind of defined its wearer. I do not seem to have it correctly in export file, or i lack latest export. I do have snapshot of description, though. Rest is just irrelevant gear for characters, even if crafted to look as intended.
Would such service be asking too much?
Whom to contact?
Act like announced in post 1?

The information in the initial post is correct. Extropy would be the one to handle .BIC imports.
