Hail Cormyrians!
This sub-board is being created in response to the spirit and intent of the thread linked below.
frc.proboards.com/thread/19958/guilds-thread
Organizations of interest may be listed in this board in their own respective threads so long as these guidelines are followed -
-The organization must be true to source (Forgotten Realms 3.5 mainstream publications; specific organizations from older or newer FR publications may be included with DM agreement) or active organizations on FRC if not in source.
-Posts should be written to convey what is common or public knowledge about the organization. Please be careful not to reveal anything beyond what the public eye would be aware of. If in doubt, please ask a DM before posting.
-If the organization is active on FRC, please only post about groups in which you participate and make sure your post is approved by group mates.
-Convey what is known about the organization Realms-wide then focus on how the organization is perceived within Cormyr.
-If you deem it to be within the realm of public knowledge, you may provide information about how the organization may be contacted in game.
-Please recognize that not all groups may be sensible to have a posting on this board. If a group is truly clandestine and unknown to the public, there would be nothing to add to the Lore of the Lands. It is truly a secret.
-DMs reserve the right to remove or modify posts that we feel provide too much information or exceed what the public would know about an organization.
-Please give thought to reviewing a post with a DM before adding it.
The below is an example from the original thread, for illustration. If a player associated with the Alizarin Academy past or present is unhappy with this post, please let me know and we'll adjust as needed.
Across Faerun bards, minstrels, mages, and sages collect and share much of the knowledge in the realms from current clack to the mysterious, to science, to magic. Libraries exist and several faiths uphold the discovery of knowledge but knowledge of historic events is often transferred by song, word of mouth, and tavern tale.
While many of these folk are solitary in their careers, sometimes several will band together and found an organization to preserve, teach, and discover lore. Sometimes these organizations are known as Bardic Colleges.
In Cormyr, one Bardic College has recently planted its roots and won renown. The Alizarin Academy of Bardic and Arcane Lore was founded in 1372 and has become the paramount learning institution in Marsember and some would say in the kingdom entire. The school is known for its library and for hosting learning events from historic events, to monster exhibits, to mage fairs. The academy is also known for opening its doors to oprhans to provide learning opportunities and scholarships.
When seeking knowledge of things magical, mysterious, or historic the first place to visit is often the Alizarin Academy of Marsember.
